Nothing changes, we bring players in as one or two of our better players get sold, it's why we are where we are after 20yrs of trying to win this thing.

Here is Rodgers talking about Skrtel in July:
http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/...9623-31453163/BRENDAN RODGERS has vowed to fight to keep Martin Skrtel at Anfield as the Liverpool FC boss prepares to welcome a host of senior players to the club’s training camp in Boston today.
The Slovakian defender, who is under contract until 2014, has yet to agree terms with the Reds on a new deal and has been linked with a move away
from Anfield in search of Champions League football this summer.
However, Rodgers says talks are ongoing and he’s determined to keep hold of last season’s player of the year, who played the second half of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Toronto.
“Martin has been fantastic,” said Rodgers. “He seems happy and contented and he’s working well.
“I’ve heard nothing from any other club about Martin.
“He fits into my plans and ideas. I will fight as hard as I possibly can to keep the players that I want here and he is one of them.
No bollocks about 'every player having their price' in there.

Personally I think we want to sell him now as the money is required to strengthen other areas.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostThe more I've thought about this the more I think Agger will actually end up staying. It sounds like we want a huge fee for him (£25m ish), which I don't think City will be willing/able to stretch to.
Hope I'm right
They know that he is probably at peak value now and if they want the top fee now is the time to sell.
I can see this being done for around 20m.
As has been said before last seasons transfer window has set us back big time and the owners are not prepared to fund that again so any more in comings have to be funded from players leaving.

AgreedOriginally posted by marcus50bucks View PostReally no need for him to make comments like that. It's not the first time that he's said every player has their price. You expect this from managers at small clubs when they are aware that big clubs are in for their players but it's not good to hear from a club like Liverpool.
It weakens your position straight off and more importantly it can alienate the player like it has done with CarrollBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I didn't hear him say that about Suarez when the enquiries came in..Originally posted by the rev leeroy brown View Postabso nothing wrong with saying what he did. its true FFS! every player at every club does have a price.
Brendan Rodgers confirms there was genuine interest from other clubs in Luis Suarez. 'I saw the fax come in.'

Its true as a general rule but I do think it weakens your position when talking about individualsOriginally posted by the rev leeroy brown View Postabso nothing wrong with saying what he did. its true FFS! every player at every club does have a price.
I think its far better to toe the "we dont want to sell" line as that makes you appear strongerBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Conflicting reports saying him & Skrtel are on verge of signing new deals. Strange for Rodgers to say this if they really are close to signing.
As for £25m for Agger - I'd take it. If he was a 38 game a season man I'd tell City to jump off a bridge, but too often he's not. Really unsettles a backline and for that money I'd have to sell.
Of course, that decision would be taken in the basis I could put that money to good use. On FIFA 12 that's easy, in the real world it's a different matter......Forwards.......

Exactly Lecter. Stark contrast to Dalglish. Remember him telling the press that the clubs stance on Torres is exactly the same as before "He is not for sale". However, it was obvious behind closed doors a deal was being made with Chelsea.Originally posted by Lecter View PostIts true as a general rule but I do think it weakens your position when talking about individuals
