Babel has played less and less games every season. He looked to be a real prospect in that first season and was tipped by many to have a massive impact in his second season.

I think in the summer after his first year he went to the olympics which Rafa moaned about (rightly so) and ended up getting an injury and returning late. Ever since then Babel has never had a look in.

I remember whe he came on against Lyon in France and smashed in an absoloute cracker, in the short time he was on he looked ten times more likely to cause damage than any other player had done all night.

Next game he didn't even come off the bench. ****ing pathetic management.

The bottom line on Babel is that he has not helped himself one bit, he's not stepped up enough to the challenge BUT despite this he has been very badly managed and Benitez is partly to blame for Babel not progressing.

It was THE defining moment in the end of Rafa for me. I think in spite of indifferent league form the CL had always been something Rafa could fall back on. When that safety net was removed I think the players and fans started to question him.

Many many players have scored screamers, more than Babel ever has anyway, it's ceratinly not a sign of a good player or potential, it's the other 99.9% of his game that lets him down, that and his childish attitude.
