Who would be willing to come in at this stage of the season though who you would be confident would deliver that upturn in form and 4th place? Kenny, as much as I idolise him, would be a gamble, and others who might fit the bill are currently employed elsewhere.

It certainly wasn't the one way traffic, 5 or 6 nil hammering that so many on here were confidently expecting in the build up. Beat Villa and go on a run with our 'easier' fixtures over Christmas and New Year, and we'll have something to build on...keep bumbling along as we are for another couple of months and he'll definitely be gone, but who will come in?
The fact that we surrender when well on top is what most annoys me about Roy. If we get outplayed all game then I can understand. But to be the better team, then sit back - is crazy.
      Forwards.......

Kenny is a gamble. But it's a no lose gamble. Roy has proved he can't get us 4th. If Kenny came in and couldn't do anything either, we lose nothing.

Except our reputation for giving managers the time they need to build a team. If we got Kenny in and did no better, we'd have the dilemma of sacking a legend and moving on to our 4th manager in under 14 months, or sticking with him despite poor performance.

Roy hasn't proved anything yet. 4th is in reach if our recent form (2nd only to the Mancs over 6 games until Sunday) is the team developing and starting to play the way he wants us to. Clearly it's not if our recent form is just a continuation of what we've seen all season.

Agreed, but we know from Houllier that in can work, and can win lots of trophies in the process. I used to hate the last ten minutes with a one goal lead under Houllier as we went further and further back. It was the first enormous difference that our lot noticed very early on in Rafa's reign (sorry for breaking forum rules to mention him again).

We wouldn't get relegated. And whether we come 5th or 17th, it matters little. Only the top 4 can make a difference.

It can work with the right players. But it's not working with the players we have.

if it matters little why are you getting so worked up about it?

                      For the final time.

If we change managers now we have a chance of 4th. That said, Roys done his best of late to finally kill that possibility of. Pretty soon it won't matter and I'll write this season off and wait until the summer.

but you say if get the King and he doesnt finish 4th it doesnt matter

so why does it matter if Roy doesnt get 4th

i am struggling to understand your point now.

we all want him gone and today i am no different

the only difference is i can understand why they havent got rid of him yet

becuase Roy is guaranteed not to get 4th. With the KIng who knows,

what if he does worse? then we are looking at another short term manager

and this will take resources away from looking for the long term replacement.

i am not asking anyone to agree with NESV not having sacked him , just to understand that it doesnt mean they want to keep him, and that NESVs approach may be perfectly valid

Roy is here for the duration. We had better get used to it. I doubt anything will or could be done to make a dramatic difference to this season. Our core is rotten, and the sooner someone says to our players that your stats will dictate your future wage, the better.

Except Torres, probably Reina, Agger, Johnson....etc.
