I don't understand the fuss over this. If we're going to question his or anyone's commitment to the cause, the last place I would look is if we've conceded a penalty. All 10 of our players could go have a drink for all I care, its the 89 minutes I'll decide if someone is fighting hard.

100% agree with everything you saidOriginally posted by Galb View Post
I really think the MOTD comments earlier in the season about him not trying (which were bull**** IMO) combined with Roy having a go about his form (usually deflecting blame) have people jumping on the lad far too quickly.
Like you say, he's still here which is testament to his loyalty to the club. Given the state we're in, he could easily have gone in the summer and you'd have found it hard to blame him. Even when he won the World Cup, you could see he was thinking of the club - that photo of him with the LFC scarf and the winning medal was legendary.
Plus, he's never engaged with the open flirting with other clubs that others have. Im not naive enough to think things may not happen behind the scenes but his time with Athletic shows he'll give a club he cares about every chance. He stayed there longer than he should have for his own career and - if we're brutally honest - you could say the same about us at the moment.
I honestly think he's just that sort of loyal, passionate character the club needs and we'll miss him when Roy's neanderthal tactics drive him away.

It just seemed more likely than him not caring tbh.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostPhew. Looks like this superstition stuff is true, in which case - thank ****. I had no idea and the footage from yesterday looked terrible.
OK, headless chickens on the left, angry mob on the right, I think Maxi is next on the list.

Lazy half-arsed primadonna - a bit like Gerrard all of last season then?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostHe didnt walk away from Rooney's penalty at Old Trafford last season though, did he?
The one where he kicked a lump out of the peno spot.
And while he continues being a lazy half-arsed primadonna, i'll have a dig at him.

You're slating Torres(completely wrongly imo) for the same thing that could be thrown at Gerrard in the vast majority of games last season when his attitude, lack of leadership and conduct towards some of his team-mates made me sick to my stomach.

Torres is Torres and Gerrard is English and a local lad. You do know that it makes a difference to some people even that it shouldn't do that.Stop the cyberhate

This is probably the worst crap posted ever. No player will ever earn the right to sulk whatever he achieved on the pitch. And i think in his DECADE at the club, Gerrard's earnt some slack.
The bottom line is that you ALWAYS at least try and give 100% in every game. You never earn the right to sulk, never.
If you even sulk in one single game then you let your team mates down, you let the supporters down and you let the club down. If you sulk in one single game could be the difference between first or second or fourth of fifth place. That single game of sulking could be the difference.

I've never seen gerrard take it to the extremes that torres is doing, this season. And i think in his DECADE at the club, Gerrard's earnt some slack.
We all see what we think. For me though, Ive seen far worse from Gerrard more often. When he sulks, its usually more dangerous because it typically involves him (or more commonly another player near him) losing the ball and the other team breaking from midfield. Sure I can accept he's frustrated, but that's no excuse for the 'turn and walk' or ''throw his hand up and stop' thing he does sometimes. We've all seen him track back superbly to break up the play when he has no right to win the ball which is what makes it annoying when he doesnt bother.
It wasnt all last season either. He's had a tendency to do it over the last few years when 'lesser' teammates have made mistakes.
Ive seen little or no lack of effort from Torres. On the contrary, he's chased almost every pointless hoof into the corners all season, taking the kickings of the defenders as he tries to hold the ball until the teammates that Roy has 50 yards behind him catch up. Its nonsense to expect a forward to headlessly chase after every defender every time they have the ball, especially if they're up on their own. The ball will be passed around them, probably to a more dangerous position to attack from, and they're just wasting energy.
Of couse you defend from the front but that has to be done intelligently.
