i do agree with both posts though
On-field identity will depend on the management team and their ideas.

It will differ with each different manager.

Our philosophy is about pass and move. Not short, slow passing like Barca, more a quick paced passing game looking to open up the opposition, but with the ability to play direct and dig in when needed.

As for the type of players we need, it has to be strong athletic players with good technique. The premier league is all about athleticism and that is what we should be looking for, but keeping an eye out for those less physichal who excel in other areas.
        Forwards.......

Ah, so it does depend on the manager - they just appointed managers whose footballing philosophy fits in with it

          We didnt.

Basically a bit like a quicker passing system than Arsenal and more of a willingness to go direct and dig in with character.

well i didnt mean it doesnt depend on manager in the way you are saying there.

i meant that it wont change every time we get a new manager.

it is possible that our first new manager post dodgeson will be appointed becasue he fits in with the philosophy that comolli and the board decide the club will follow.

It would need our board to clearly identify the philosophy and ensure that they kept this as priority when appointing managers.

thats what the barca guy is talking about and possibly why we now have comolli so that we can keep the same philosophy even when changing manager.

and what that philosophy should be in our eyes was the point of this thread

Comolli is more about recruiting players though, surely?

The whole club needs to be rebuilt from top to bottom. The club has suffered due to lack of leadership the past 20 years. Now we have a chance to rebuild with the right men in charge and IMO the first step should be getting David Dein in as our CEO then getting rid of roy.

his title is director of football stratergy.

so part of this would be coming up with the philosophy or at the very least impliementing one even if not specificly.

all i am asking is a simple question for some reason it seems i am asking a difficult one or not explaining it very well.

You're asking a question that doesnt have a simple, one-dimensional answer.

Get Rafa back and we won't need to ask questions like what our philosophy should be.

He would build up the club the Liverpool way and that should be our philosophy. The Liverpool way. Something that everyone know is our philosophy so when they see it they say. That is the Liverpool way. That reminds me of the way Liverpool do things when they see something done in a good way watching another team.

It's amazing how, for you and Nigel, EVERYTHING but EVERYTHING always has to be about Rafa

This isnt a rafa thread - stop turning everything into a rafa debate FFS.

Name another manager that would be one of us and respect the Liverpool way in the same way Rafa did. He was one of us fans. He loves the club to bits. He respected the club 100%. He respected the fans 100%.

                                That is the Liverpool way.

It is not about Rafa. If we want our own philosophy then we must get in a manager that did the same as Rafa. Respect the fans 100%. Respect the Liverpool way and is an excellent manager.

Rafa is one of very few candidates out there. That is why I mention him very often.

I love Liverpool FC and I want what is best long term for the club. Rafa is IMO what is best long term. It may exist other managers that would be better short term like Rijkaard etc but would he stay 10+ years and build a legacy? No chance.

We need to get in a manager that is prepared to stay the next 10+ years and build up the club and leave a legacy behind him.

Would Rafa be prepared to stay 10+ years? I think the answer is yes.
