Seems to be a bit of a pattern of late with the normally studious & accurate DWW. He couldnt seem to get his head around 18 months ago on my Lucas post either...

I would suggest you read my post for yourself. Craig is not so hot at the actual reading of other peoples posts part of discussion.

Claws out, he's going for the kill

I do tend to read most people's posts in full dww, it's just that, where your's are concerned - how can i put this? I left my 'essay-reading' days behind at uni

If they were a tad shorter and a little more interesting, i would read them in full all the time.

                Arguably, all too often.

I would go for a 5-2-3 formation. Using nice wing play, A Gerrard-Glen right side partnership would be awesome, pushing Aurelio, glen up and pulling Lucas/Meireles back and vice versa depending on our attacking play. Aurelio and Glen can be defensive but imo are better attackers so if needed we can have 5 defenders back,

                    ----------Reina

                    -----Kelly-Carra-Skrtel--------/------------(Soto/Konch)

                    Glen------------------Aurelio
                    -----Lucas----meireles-----

                    --Gerrard-------Cole/Babel/Maxi
                    ----------Torres-----------

My main complaint in this scenario is not so much about you not reading my post but the fact you commented (incorrectly) on the content without reading it.

I admit my last complaint was clumsily made.

I not you don't entertain the possibility of reading without commenting.

I don't like 532 or 352. It didn't work in the mid-90s and I don't see how it would be any better now.

                          I don't much care for 388 either.
                          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Okay so to get back on topic:

If we were to have a back three how would one organise it? With Agger out we have no one to take the sweeper role in a traditional back three (and without one it seems unlikely we will be experimenting with the two sweeper system briefly tried out by some Italian teams in the last few years).

I guess Kelly is the one CB we have fit who might reasonable be thought of as capable of playing CB and moving to cover the fullback positions. Still seems to be one less than you need.

I think there is very advantage for a back three that couldn't be achieved by bringing the defensive midfield a bit deeper (in Roys formations it wouldn't be a big move). I suppose in the case of Lucas we would lose a bit in terms of heading at the back.

well i see what you mean, but if you have watched roho's 3-5-2 video, then you know that carra and agger are pretty well suited to the two wider cb roles that he describes. it would then be skrtel/kyrgiakos in the middle, with kelly and wilson coming into the other spots.
