well i see what you mean, but if you have watched roho's 3-5-2 video, then you know that carra and agger are pretty well suited to the two wider cb roles that he describes. it would then be skrtel/kyrgiakos in the middle, with kelly and wilson coming into the other spots.

It could work and I guess Wilson might actually have experience (albeit in a 5-3-2) of playing a related system. Not convinced that the balance is there unless you can put in at least one ball playing CB and we only really have Agger (although I accept that Kelly or Wilson might develop that way).

I would be very wary of asking young players to move to the system. I admit that Agger and Carragher are suitable but both are injured and the former at least injury prone also. I also think that appearing suitable and it turning out to be so are very different things.

The thing about the Roy description is that he seems to think it can only work if you essentially view it as a diamond style back four. His video on 4-4-2 also leaves you in no doubt which formation he prefers.

Basically, Gerrard just needs telling to stop dropping so ****ing deep and Lucas and Raul need trusting to preserve shape and creativity from CM. Either that, or if Bodge is gonna persist with 442, SG needs to swap with Kuyt and play on the right like in 05/06.

Or play Gerrard on the wing like he did for England. The amount of times our wide players come inside it would likely suit Gerrard.

Breaking up the Raul/Lucas partnership would be daft. They have been far the best central partnership this season and have been crucial in our recent upturn in form.
