Gerrards current form isnt that of one of the best players in the world and wasnt last year either.

i have to say i would wait for the next manager to decide what to do, I wouldnt like him gone but if we are to win the league he wont be a must in that team due to his age and the quality of the team we will have to win the league.

It is possible he will be a must for the squad and the club but not a guaranteed starter at all.

Kinda how I see it too.

EDIT- as it stands. Would be open to persuasion in the medium term if a proper new manager has real vision without him I could believe in- and in the (never-gonna-happen) scenario of it being him or Rafa.

Gerrard is class but he can't do it on his own. the problem with gerrard is that he is versatile. Would I play him CM? No. Because he is far better on the right, or behind the striker than either Lucas or Meireles.

Lucas has stepped up this season and Meireles has now got to grips with the game, as such there is no longer a great need to put Gerrard CM like there was at the start of the season.

Add the fact that Cole has been (let's be honest) terrible, we lack someone to play up with Torres. Step forward Mr Gerrard.

He was one of the best players in the world. He isn't that anymore. Even Gerrard gets older and because of that a worse player. The many injuries also means that he gets worse.

The Gerrard playing as a central midfielder is bull**** because he isn't good enough defending to do that. Manager after manager have tried to play him with many different players and no one suited him. No one could play with him in a way that made him effective.

The problem is that usually when a player gets older then you can move him from attacking to central midfield or from central midfield to defensive midfield and so on but in this case you can't do that because he isn't good enough defending to do that. It's attacking positions the rest of the career and that means either attacking midfield, second striker or striker.

There is also better players than him out there in everyone of the above positions and I want what is best for the team and not what is best for Gerrard. If we can sign a better player than him on the right or to play with Torres then he is suddenly a backup player.

And it doesnt matter about age, if you're slagging someone off for not playing well and not giving 100%, Torres should be number one on your list right now - not Gerrard.

You havent directly said that, but you keep intimating all these negative points re Gerrard - so presumably, if all those things are true, logic suggests that you'd want to drop him. After all, if that stuff were true, why would you believe it, and yet still field him?
