Let's be honest, if Roy is in charge - that particular team is not far-fetched.

I also realise that you can take most transfer speculation with a pinch of salt.

However, since it's Friday - of all the good players rumoured to be leaving, and all the superduper players linked to us - what's the worst team you think Roy could field on the opening day of next season if he is in charge?

NB: I've omitted Carragher and Gerrard for effect.

Thankfully he won't be but if he was our team would be a lot worse than that
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Reading that team lineup has actually made me feel sick.

I think that team will be perfectly capable of competing for a play-off place.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Still a better team than we had under Souness at some stage!

Here's a thought - is PFK worse than David Burrows?

Cut from the same cloth, but I think Burrows was slightly less ****.

Burrows was much better than PFK is now - mind you I think he still is!
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

David ****ing Burrows (DFB) now there is a name I haven't thought about in a while. ****e though DFB was I think he secured a league winners medal, and therefor would have to be seen as infinitely better than PFK.

From a similar football school no doubt though.

Edit. I see when we sold DFB to West Ham, it was part of the deal which brought Julian ****ing Dicks (JFD) to Anfield. We have certainly nurtured a few (forgive seasonal metaphor) turkeys in the left back spot.

Funnily enough I was thinking we always used to have good left backs - Hughes, Lindsay, Kennedy, Beglin + a few others probably that I can't remember.

Then Staunton (who was good but not as good).

                            Then Burrows and Dicks.

Ablett wasn't up to much. Carra played there of course but was out of position - effective in defence but nothing more.

Riise - had his moments of glory, but overall (and especially towards the end)

Aurelio - good but made of dust and porcelain.

Insua - young, inexperienced and probably too short.

Culminating in the apple of his mummy's eye, little PFK.

Have we had a good left back since the end of the 80s?
