Hardly inspired about this match but it may be his last so a little cheerier about that prospect .
LIVERPOOL manager Roy Hodgson says he will make changes for tomorrow’s must-win visit of Bolton Wanderers – after admitting whatever team he sent out against Wolves on Wednesday would not have fared any better.
“We've got some chances to freshen the team up and we'll have to continually do that anyway because there are so many games coming up,” said Hodgson.
“With games every three days, you cannot expect them to play even if you wanted to.
“I am trying the best I can do and the group of players I put out there was probably the best XI, apart from Daniel Agger who has been injured long term.
“When I think about it had I chosen a different team which did not have a midfield of Dirk Kuyt, Lucas Leiva, Steven Gerrard and Raul Meireles, with Fernando Torres and David Ngog up front, I don’t think things would have been different.
“I fear whatever team I chose the performance would have been the same and that showed when I made the three substitutions and it didn’t alter the level of performance.
“I don’t think there are many players happy with how they played.
“I put it down to it being a bad day for us.”
Daniel Agger was back in a Liverpool squad for the first time since September and despite transfer speculation about his future, Hodgson insisted he was not for sale.
“Daniel Agger has not been ‘offered’ to anybody,” he said. “Daniel Agger is a Liverpool player and there's a good chance he'll be in the Liverpool team on Saturday against Bolton.
