Blackpool (Away) - Build up thread.

Dependant on the fitness of the players, I'd go with a similar line up.

One thing I would like to see, is Glen Johnson in at RM and Kelly remaining at RB. Kuyt looked shattered today so that is an option.

I'd also be interested in seeing Ryan Babel start, either off Torres or on either one of the wings. I think he'll do well under Kenny.

    My line up

    Reina
    Kelly Skrtel Agger Aurelio
    Lucas Meireles
    Johnson Babel Maxi
    Torres
    Forwards.......

Babel off Torres? Must be mental.

If Babel plays and not wide, he has to play upfront.

Shelvey, kelly & babel should all start for this one. More pace and commitment.

Not sure about Shelvey. Every time I've seen him, he looks like he's nowhere near ready for the first team.

This game could be a real turning point. Fancy us to batter these now.

Agreed, not sure why people seem to want Babel to start either. He has done nothing. It worries me that people value pace over footballing ability.

Who would you put behind Torres?

The only three I'd consider are Kuyt, Maxi and Babel. Ngog I rule out as I prefer the 4231 formation to a flat 442 which we have struggled with.

Kuyt because of his strength and experience, but he does lack a good first touch which can be a worry when being used as a link man.

Maxi I pick purely because of his understanding with Torres, plus he's shown good form of late and is a neat and tidy player with great close control.

Babel I pick because the best I've ever seen him play was when he was deployed off the striker for Holland U21's in the Euro tournament Holland won. He was the best player in the whole tournament. He has pace, can dribble very well and has a hell of a shot. He would cause the opposition problems and when he gets the ball he would draw players to him as the opposition couldn't leave him one on one.

Personally, I think he's too weak for that position. I think under Kenny he could do well in one of the wide positions though.

                      i agree with this too.

although he's young and needs game time, his decision making looks poor and charlton didnt really play him in central midfield. I think they used him behind the striker because i dont think he has the physical traits needed to play that position.

I can see him behind a striker but we already have gerrard, cole, pacheco who all want to play in the hole.

Needs to stop looking at steven gerrard and look more closely at xabi alonso. Forget the headlines and look at the basics of how to dictate the tempo of a game. Players like gerrard make short term but effective impacts.

Players like alonso will affect the game for much longer periods of time and are the foundations of any successful team.

Nah, don't need strength there, you do need brains though, Babel lacks the intelligence to play there.

No joke. Suso. Give him a chance and you never know. He is an exceptional talent. Probably the best we had since Gerrard, Folwer and Owen.

i dont think we have the liberty of playing suso this season. No carling, no fa, europa is only chance of silverware and every league game is crucial.

Especially since players like gerrard and cole would be much better in that position. If he was going to play I'd play him on the left of a 3 in the 4231 and see what he does.
