    new stadium and fair play.

not sure where else to put this.

i have always thought that a new stadium is most likely to be cheaper than a major over haul of Anfield due to the fact that we wont lose income during that time. if we overhaul then stands will be closed etc. obviously it depends on land and the design of the stadium but as a broad brush i still think it will be cheaper.

however i just thought would you want to lose that matchday income for a season with the fair play rules coming into force? this would limit our spending and qualification in Europe possible over that time?

    anyway just throwing that out

If it has to be limited then it has to be limited. We need increased revenue from ticket sales and if expanding Anfield is the way forward then that's the way to go.

Maybe we could call it Adidas Anfield Arena for a year to cover the lost revenue for a season.
    Forwards.......

but surely calling it adidas anfield would be something you would be able to do for the new stadium so it doesnt make any difference to the calculation

Arent stadium debts exempted from the new rules

its not the stadium debt that i am thinking about. its the fact that income will be down

i assume and assume is the key word really that no account is made for a loss of income?

You have to breakeven over 3 years

So that might help in regards to any loss of income due to any redevelopment

I think Annie Road and the Main Stand are the 2 that needs redevelopment to bring the stadium up to 55k, from what I remember, without massive investment in the infrastructure (roads etc) more than 55k is not allowed. This would take 2 years.

                    From the Beeb:

There will be some leeway, as, over the first two seasons of the rules, clubs will be allowed to overspend by a total of £37m, which will be reduced on a sliding scale for each three-year reporting period that follows.

In addition, clubs will be permitted an unlimited investment in stadium infrastructure and youth academies.
                    Oh I don't know.
