Kingfunk? Not just give the King a chance - Although I wholeheartedly agree with That one - More to the point? Give Steve Clarke A Chance as His work on fitness etc will be utterly CRUCIAL in the months to come and THAT looked like our biggest problem last night - We weren't FIT enough to keep up half the time and just ran out of puff during and after the period in which their winner was scored.

Actually, that last point really is utterly pathetic in it's reflection of Royston and his ahem 'Work' as our coach then if you think about it a little. Consider, just HOW many late winners/equalisers did we score only 2 seasons ago now? Even last season we ran our socks off for 90 mins in every game but now? We barely last 50 odd minutes if that. Something is VERY wrong in our fitness, training and warmup departments. It badly NEEDS fixing - When it is, the results will come from that being done as much as anything else and as I said - In That department? Clarke might just turn out to be not only crucial but our best signing in a Long time..........................

lets be fair, Blackpool would have beaten almost every side in the league with that performance last night. lets not lose sight of that. they were excellent.

kenny/steve are in the job 3 days. even the most intolerant side of me thinks its a bit too soon to make ANY judgements whatsoever.

      fact is tho we can:

1 we know that we have sub-standard players in the squad. too many of whom were in the team last night. This is either their ability or confidence or both

2 we know we have a broader confidence problem in the squad due to the last 6-12 months of hell.

3 the team are approaching the games FAR better than we ever did under roy - defensive line, pass & move

I think 5 games and we'll definitely be on the up in terms of results. a good one against everton could make that 3.

give the king some trust and patience. he'll get it right. i think last night will be great longer term as it bursts the honeymoon bubble. Everyone knows its about hard work not living in kenny's shadow and that will gain us a lot more than just 3 points last night.

also, i was a bit upset as the time ticked away at the end of the second half, but i sure was giving a damn this time. i wasn't fuming like i was early on in roy's "career" nor was i indifferent like i was in the latter stages of it.

i saw some improvement tonight. i was disappointed we didn't win and angry with some of the players, but on the whole, i'm happy with the way the team shape seems to be heading. if roy had shown any kind of improvement like this, he might still be here now.

what more do you expect after one training session?
        Are we winning?

Think KD will turn it round, but it'll take time. Don't even believe we're fit at the moment.
A thought occurred to me that maybe Roy was treated harshly but if the team is looking unfit that it is his fault, the team is lacking in confidence which is his fault, the support is lacking due to everyone disliking him for being arrogant and condecending, he signed poor players and was linked to awful ones while trying to sell our good players, etc. etc.

Kenny coming in was the right thing. As you say KD will turn it around, our setup is improving and thus our preparations will as well. I'm not exactly aiming this at you I just have to put my thoughts down as I was having some doubts.
            * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

The only comment I will make is 3 days of training and there was a visible improvement last night. Confidence is fragile.

Have patience. Its going to take some time, he's only been here 5 days. A little slagging is bearable because I know that in a couple of weeks the team will be much better organized and they will be climbing the table

At least a loss hurts now. Under the Bodge most were either ambivalent or happy when we lost as it was another nail in his LFC coffin. Kenny's given us our pride back.

At least he's seen most of the 1st team players in action after last night. In training he must have thought Poulsen and Jovanavic looked good enough to step up. Though wtf Johnson was doing at lb god only knows

Will take time, but one thing's for certain, he could do with a couple of quality signings this window
The Bodge is gone, long live the King!

The simple response to that is this "Hodgson was never the right choice. Dalglish should be given a chance."
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Second game in charge for Kenny and already we are all over him. It's plain to see that he was giving everyone a chance before getting rid of the deadwood in our side, Jova, Poulsen etc. Then when those guys do get moved on, they can't say Kenny never give them a chance. Were we this hard on Roy after his second game?

I think 3 days after over a year of under/poor performing is a massive amount to expect. Whilst we all have the highest opinion of him, the changes that are needed wont take effect this quickly. He needs to look at confidence, eradicating mistakes, systems, players.
                          Quit your jibber jabber!!!

Jermaine, you know the song Billie Jean...is it about the tennis player??

The team selection wasn't the best, but there must be reasons.
Nice post. For me his only criteria is to stabilise us.

Don't worry, you'll get used to it. We lost plenty of times under him before in the 80s. It feels bad whoever's manager

I never wanted him to take over as caretaker because I didn't want the memories of him as a great player to be tarnished if it didn't work out.

Of course things may improve (if they don't we're sunk) but all I expect from him is to stabilise the position and then we can bring in an up-and-coming young manager with potential in the summer
