We had nothing at all down the right today. We lacked width.

We need midfield runners coming on to the ball.

Reina's save was world class - but the way we set up to defend the free-kick was terrible.

Was it not Sami's long pass to garcia which set up the second goal? Sami was magnificent today. Made him my MOM.

Pennant did one thing of note today - held on to the ball for too long (playing up to the villa fans) and almost got Xabi injured. The best place for Pennant is anywhere but over that white line.

nah Pennant on the right would have given a decent outlet, and Alonso getting an injury might not be such a bad thing at the moment. Gerrard in his place today would have given us much more through the middle.

Sami might give the odd decent long pass but in general his distribution is ****e, which is why he should bring it out of defense more, or make way for Agger.

I'd agree with everything apart from alonso. He looked back to near his best today, and his tackling and hustling was also good. Our midfield was awsome today.

Kuyt was very good today, if Momo hadn't been in monstrous form he'd have been my MOM. He dropped deep and was a good link player between midfield and attack. His alround energy was also very useful.

Alonso was magnificent today. Alongside momo he bossed the midfield and Villa couldn't go near them. If we can start imposing ourselves on away matches like we do on home soil, we'll be gunning for that title no doubt.

Today was probably our strongest squad.

Some might argue for an inclusion of Agger, but Sami was great today

Kuijt and Crouch look very good together. I'm surprised, I thought they were similar players, but they should be our preferred starting strikers

I also felt Alonso looked better today

nah mate it's not bollocks you just think differently

Pennant played well in widweek and would have been good to see if he could have carried it on, and this would have been a good game for it, when we were getting so much space down the right hand side. Gerrards instinct is to go middle, and Finnan found himself in acres of space on the right many times.

Obviously I don't want to see Xabi get an injury, but for me he played too many short passes today and wasn't as threatening untill the second half when he started to get forward more. OF the two in the middle Xabi is the most expendable, and the two chances Gerrard had with the ball in middle - one resulted in a goal and one a near miss.

I'm not knocking Sami at all, just would like to see him carry the ball further in future, before giving the pass. Agger is better distribution wise, and it's obvious he's going to take his place sooner or later. Nothing against Sami's performance today thought he was good, just in general we could do with a bit more creativity from the back.

Sorry disagree with you about alonso. He was spraying passes short and long, through the air and on the ground. Today's was his best performance for us this season. He was also aggressive. Top performance all round.
