    Torres

I have to stay I was really impressed with him yesterday some of the shots and passes he tried to complete were incredible and his work ethic was great aswell For a stat that is pretty incredible Torres is already our 4th highest goal scorer in 100 games.

I think he will smash all goal scoring records and having watched the game yesterday he is going to destroy a team very soon and Wolves on Saturday would be a great place to start

    Looking forward to Saturday already

And the best thing about it is he's never satisfied and always wants to improve and get better! And considering his current mentor, **** me, he'll be lapping it up! **** YEA <--- JUST LOOK AT HIM GO PEEPS!!!

Still think he'll be off in the summer all the same (just to put a dampener on things).
Hopefully we'll see a few more performances like that first-half one between now and then though. The goal-scoring record speaks for itself, but the performance that'll live in my mind was the one against Real at Anfield a couple year back......one of the best displays by any Liverpool striker IMO.

I dont think he will be off in the summer especially if we sign several quality players before the end of the month.

I think he will give us 1 more season think he will be enjoying lifting the Europa with King Kenny enough to stay next year.

His future depends on the ambition of NESV. He wants to stay and be successfull with LFC.

I dunno mate.....I hope not, but a return to Spain has to be a major, major lure (especially with a young family to raise). Never mind the fact that in reality, silverware with us is probably a long, long way off at this point.
His options are limited all the same back in Spain, but at this point in his career, I wouldn't under-estimate (or indeed over-estimate his loyalty to us) his desire to finally be part of a winning setup.

Would love to hear him say that today, while nesv may not have made any big promises, one thing they did state is that we'll be going "toe to toe" with you know who, and to do that, well, we all know what's needed.

Barcelona is the only option. And IMO they'll not sign him. He wouldn't really suit them as well as other players available they could pursue. Despite his ability Torres first touch is lacking sometimes so I don't think he'd actually improve Barca's attack, which is working like a well oiled machine atm.

                    What do the stars(*) mean?

I'm guessing that they are players whose first 100 games were in the top flight, is that correct?? That would mean Torres has the most prolific top flight record in his first 100 games.

                    Fantastic record either way
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I hear what you're saying, but

Depends very much on price with Barca all the same.
Forget the 70-80m figures that were fantasized around with Nando a couple year back...........he can be bought for half of that assuming he never hits the heights again.
Barca could easily see him as that other option for their attacking play, and given Villa's willingness to accommodate more direct partners, I could see him stepping into a point role for Barca as easily as any other forwards that could be mentioned.
Ultimately he's an attractive purchase for Barca both on and off the pitch. Hope it won't happen, and Nando (along with Reina) could be convinced that their futures lie here, but stepping away from the Liverpool fan perspective, there are more reasons to leave than to stay.

I still think you cannot discount Reina and Torres' view of the specialty of this club and its fans. Neil Young made an EXCELLENT post yesterday, I think it was in the Luis Suarez thread, on the different factors which accommodate different players' motivation for joining/leaving a club.

You just can't put players into one hat and say 'This is the fact.', you simply cannot. You have no idea what for instance Kenny will be doing with regards to Torres/Reina, you cannot understand or presume to understand those 2 specific players' motivation with regards to leaving/staying. It's just impossible.

torres will IMO give us one more year.

this year has been a major disappointment and so depending on the managerial situation and the major investment needed in players coming to fruition, i can see torres prob givein us one more year to get it right and show we can challenge at he top.

if by next january we are still a long way away then i can see him wanting out.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

We will have a problem this coming summer. His contract runs until 2013, so by June, he'll be two years away.

By which stage, we have to either sign a new deal or sell.

True, but as difficult as it is to accept, you have to sometimes judge other people's motivations from criteria outside your own, but you can only do that to the best of your ability.
One thing straight away that has to be stripped away, is our own bias towards our club. Looking from the outside, why the **** would any top class player want to stay here considering all the issues we've had over the past 3 years, never mind the uncertainty that surrounds us nowadays, and factor all that into the brutal truth that our squad is miles behind what is required to deliver trophies that players of such quality aim for. Time and millions of squid are the order of the day - plus the small matter of the correct (and it has to be this time !!!) manager being installed in the summer.

Now, as for the personal feelings of loyalty that the likes of Torres and Pepe have towards the cause ?????...................no-one here is qualified to judge, but whatever they are, they hopefully overcome the reasons to leave. Money ain't an issue, as no matter where they go, the money will always be there regardless.
Can they be convinced by sweet-talk from Kenny, NESV etc ?.......perhaps, but perhaps they've been promised it all in the past (as we all were), and are no longer listening.

We just don't know.......personally, I think if the right offer comes in, Torres might be off in the summer(Pepe will stick around for a bit though), but nothing is certain. Remaining months of the season will be crucial (not just the Jan/Summer windows) I fear to show that this club is finally going places again.
