Why? Torres completed full games under Rafa absolutely **** loads of times. More often than he was taken off.

Someone told me that Torres had played more minutes this season before Saturday’s game than he had all of last year. Is that true? No wonder we did so **** then.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I think it must be. He started 20 games in the league last season (scored 18). He's started more than that this season. Rafa was deprived of him last season and Hodgson had no such excuse. He just didn't have the foggiest how to get the best out of the best no.9 in the world.

Aye, as Tomkins I think pointed out, despite our **** performances, Hodgson also had a lot of good fortune when he was here. Amazing how any manager could have a team consisting of Pepe, Gerrard and Nando in a relegation fight. You could almost field them three on their own and expect to win more games than Roy did.

I think that Hodgson's philosophy was that if Torrres is the best in the world, he should be able to just turn up and score loads of goals. The onus is on the players to play to their strengths and make something happen, rather than the coach to get the best out of them.
            Oh I don't know.

Good to see Torres getting back into it. Like seeing him getting tap ins, show's he's getting in the right positions and playing for the team.

Hansen was spot on with his analysis on MOD last night. If you get players around him quickly when we attack it gives him more options and hence Torres looks more dangerous. He was able to link with the midfield much more effectively.

I still don't think he's near the form when we he first joined us. He's lost a bit of that explosive pace to get away from defenders. I think start of next season we'll see him back at his best after a proper rest and pre-season

Yep I said exactly the same yesterday. Get it up to Torres, direct, and hope for a bit of magic. Absolute ****e.

So do I. For someone else, probably Barcelona. I obviously hope I'm wrong. It'd be sickening to see him playing for someone else, especially if as we both believe, he'll be firing on all cylinders next season after a summer off.

its not hard to defend against torres alone if you have all of the defence and the defensive midfield to do it.

however if they have to deal with other players as well then he wont have to beat half a team to get a chance.

amazing how bodge couldnt see this after 35 years of management.

Saw a bit of 'Do I not like that' yesterday and it really reminded me of Roy, Taylor being a 'nice guy' with an archaic approach.

                        "Hit Les! Hit Les!"

Then the whole country wonders why players like Barnes don't flourish for the national team.

I could watch that every day.

                          "Can we not knock it?!"

"Come on! Rise yourselves! Look for your win!"

"Excuse me linesman, can you tell your friend he's just got me the sack? Cheers."

Sorry for going off topic but I love this **** ...just found this in an old thread.

Neal: "...sleep" (in that annoying way that people finish off sentences for you)

Taylor: "Ooooh, ****ing... do I not like that!"

Poland win the ball, break downfield and score.

Taylor: "What a ****ing ball. Eh! What a ball, eh, from Des to Barnesy. What a ****ing... It was our possession!"

                              Phil Neal: "I know."

Taylor: "It was from our free kick. We've come square, and the ball... Des and Barnesy, eh? ****ing ball, eh? You can talk till you're ****ing blue in the face, can't you?"

                              Phil Neal: "Yes boss."

Taylor : "We've done that f**king... CAN WE NOT KNOCK IT? They've done everything that we told them not to do. Everything that we told them not to do."

                              Neal: "Everything."

Taylor: "We’ll have to get Wrighty on shortly."

Phil Neal: "We’ll have to give Wrighty a go. Yeah let's do it. Let's get Wrighty on."

Another goal, this time in Norway...

Taylor: "We're in ****ing trouble here. He's scored. Goal. He's beaten him on his near post."

Neal: "He's beaten him on his near post. Gone over his head."
