Let's build on this performance, get a healthy lead against Fulham and give Pacheco a run out for the last 30 mins.

That would be the ideal situation.Gerrard is back for that game aswell so we should play them off the park with our new found confidence and KK effect.

Man it feels good to look forward to the next game again.

Some really nice one touch pass and move for sure, such an improvement.

...however, watch the guy (Berra?) marking Torres at the end

      A. Just daydreaming and watching our pretty passing and forgetting to move up with the rest of his defence, leaving Dirk with acres to run into.

      B. Running back with Torres only to abandon him and run to the goal line to attempt to block whatever shot ends up coming in. Surely either blocking the cross or marking Torres so he doesn't get a shot in would be better.

The worst defending you could ever hope to see.

Just on that 3rd goal again - you dont put together that kind of passing movement if your confidence is shot - obviously by that stage, winning 2-0, the pressure is gone and confidence is high. Just shows you how important confidence is.

Agree, talk of a 'mass overhaul' being needed is well wide of the mark

yes, the confidence was flowing with that passing move, funny what a few goals can do. it was simple stuff but great to see.

And yeah Skrtel's reaction to the third goal was class it was like get the **** in there, we've done it now

Liverpool had known this would be a test and their eventual willingness to handle the physical pressure wrought by Wolves on a potato-patch of a pitch was embodied by Raul Meireles.

The Portuguese international fits into the pass-and-move philosophy that Kenny Dalglish wants to reintroduce into Liverpool’s game.

“We were delighted not only with his play but attitude and commitment,” remarked Dalglish.

And that’s the key. Technical quality is never enough. The game requires mental and physical fortitude. It is why Alberto Aquilani failed to settle on Merseyside and why the delicate Italian’s red No 4 shirt now hangs in Meireles’ locker.

Yet it was only a fortnight ago that Meireles was guilty of hesitation when Rafael, Manchester United’s feisty full-back, came steaming in to win the ball at Old Trafford. Steven Gerrard, perhaps annoyed, then went in too forcefully on Michael Carrick and was dismissed, so triggering the three-game ban.

In Gerrard’s absence, Meireles seems to have blossomed. He excelled here, starting in his best position, playing just off Fernando Torres in a 4-2-3-1 system. Dalglish shrugged when asked whether Meireles would continue in his optimum position when Gerrard returns against Fulham on Wednesday.

“Raul can play elsewhere,” replied the Liverpool manager. “He’s a talented footballer. He played last week against Everton, and scored in that game. He’s going for the Golden Boot!” Yet the draw with Everton was achieved with Meireles behind Torres as Gerrard began his ban.

As long as Meireles is not shifted wide. Maxi Rodriguez looks neat enough on the ball, but seems almost painfully shy when invited to debate possession with an opponent. Liverpool still need a stronger left-sided option, possibly Fabio Aurelio, the fit-again attacking full-back who replaced Maxi with 12 minutes remaining here.

Whatever Dalglish decides for the Fulham game, Liverpool know they now have a stronger engine room with Lucas, Meireles and Gerrard all in form. Lucas was again quietly efficient, doing the dirty work, disrupting Wolves’ midfield, nicking the ball as with a marvellous piece of interception on Steven Fletcher just before the break.

But the eye kept being drawn back to Meireles. “For a player in his first season in the Premier League it can be difficult to pick up the pace,” added Dalglish. “Raul missed pre-season with the club doesn’t do him any favours. Raul’s been really impressive.

The position he played yesterday and against Everton is so important as Torres can get isolated. Such was Meireles’ energy, linking midfield and attack, that Torres enjoyed regular support.

Meireles was looking for the Spaniard from the start, even creating Torres’ first after judging his run perfectly to avoid the offside trap. But the Portuguese midfielder’s piece de resistance came after the break, despatching a wonderful right-foot volley past Wayne Hennessey. “Two keepers wouldn’t have saved that,” said Mick McCarthy.

Confidence really flowed through Meireles now and he played some terrific passes, even setting up a great chance that Jonjo Shelvey failed to take. Not shying away from the physical battle, Meireles was eventually cautioned for tripping Nenad Milijas. By the final whistle, he looked fully integrated in the team, applauding a Daniel Agger run, saluting the Liverpool fans.

Strange that suddenly Winter does talk with a modicum of sense. Just to say that he serialised Dalglish's latest autobiography and vows an admiration for the great man.

                    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Well this was just a one game, as Roy said, no-one can do any better with this team of losers.
