Which 3 players would you want back?

Alonso
Masch
And...
Hamill.
Arbeloa did well in our backline, but he struggled with getting forward and then getting back for his defensive duties, which is why I'd guess Carra went psycho at Fulham away in his last season. We've definately missed him as we've not really got in anyone alround better.
But for me, I don't think Hamill ever got a fair crack here. He's done really well in lower leagues and up in Scotland. Can score outside the box, and can take a player on playing either right or left midfield. I'd take him back for the squad. Wolves have a bargain there I reckon.

The lower leagues and Scotland are no guide to how well you would play for us. The fact that he is nearly 23 and hasn't pushed suggests that he simply isn't good enough.Originally posted by Kronenburg1892 View PostAlonso

Alonso
Mascherano
Crouch
I would have said Sami but those three have a few more years left in them, if it were the Sami of a few years back that would be differentThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

You're probably right, but I would have taken more of a punt on him than I would have on say Ngog (different positions sure)Originally posted by Mattshark View PostThe lower leagues and Scotland are no guide to how well you would play for us. I guess we'll see over the next few months on whether 500k was a good buy.

N'gog is 2 years younger and already a more established player though.Originally posted by Kronenburg1892 View PostYou're probably right, but I would have taken more of a punt on him than I would have on say Ngog (different positions sure)

That's not really saying much though is it, especially when you consider what's happened to our transfer policy over the last 2 years. We've had to rely on DN as a fill in striker for the last 18 months, which is why he's got his first team experience.
I just think Hamill is more useful as a squad player that can fill in on both sides of the pitch, than a striker who's learning his trade out of necessity (who had only scored one goal before he joined us, if I remember right)

Aye, but he was only 17 when we got him.Originally posted by Kronenburg1892 View PostThat's not really saying much though is it, especially when you consider what's happened to our transfer policy over the last 2 years. Not that I would say no to taking Xabi back, the way our midfielders performed against Wolves, getting forward at every opportunity probably wouldn’t suit him. I like the Lucas / Meireles pairing and I’m looking forward to seeing how we perform with a well rested Gerrard and rejuvenated Torres against Fulham. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Agree mate that his last season or two were pretty poor, but he's still the best leftback that we've had in the last ten years and hasn't been replaced.Originally posted by dom9 View PostWhy would you like Riise, Lee?
He last 2 seasons for us were awful. Has he improved in Italy? I don't watch any of those games.
Good for a couple of goals per season too.
