Steve Finnan is an excellent right full-back imo, consistent and reliable as they come.
Cover for Stevie? Yes, Replace him? No

That we're finding time to be thinking about how to replace Finnan in the future tells me that we're playing well again.

I hope we can bring in somebody in Jan, Neill as a bit of cover maybe
Micah Richards at Citeh has been touted as the dog's danglies by some but is obviously very young and inexperienced.Haven't seen him myself so can't judge him
Maybe Lee Peltier can step up and get some more starts at RB this season and get some more experience

We do need some cover/competition for Finnan

For a young kid I have to say Micah Richards looks to have it all, but then so did Glenn Johnson a couple of years ago. Still, I have to say he would be the RB I would like us to sign.

thats spot on. He doesnt doesnt make mistakes, ie. getting caught out of position, because he doesnt really bomb forward as Alves would.

I think Rafa really wants the wing play to come from our full backs. Riise is great at it, as is Aurelio(crap defensively though). However Finnan just doesnt offer a threat down the right. Alves would do that, and allow Stevie to move central, even though technically he would be playing right mid.
