Gerrard vs the Kaiser. Eng vs Ger 2001 ?

I'd love to find the video footage of the game between England and Germany and I'm pretty sure it's the 2001 match won 5-1 by England. All 5 goals were scored by Liverpool players also.

I can remember a young Steven Gerrard giving the Kaiser a real hard time in the match. One time he out played Didi and was completely taking the mickey out of him. He either nut- megged him or knocked the ball one way and darted around the other way making Didi look like a right plonker.

Does anyone else remember it and if so where can I find the you tube vid please?

Any help appreciated as this one should not be forgotten IMO.

Afraid you got the wrong game bud. The game you are referring to, I think, took place in Belgium or Holland at Euro2000 in June 2000. If my memory serves me right England beat Germany 1-0 with a Shearer goal. A very youthful looking SG came on as sub in what was one of his first games ever for the national side. I remember he had an absolute stormer and totally took the piss out of the Germans at times. As you say nutmegging Hamann etc. After the game the pundits on the telly including Stuart Pearce were creaming themselves over his performance. Possibly THE day Gerrard arrived on the scene as a big hitter. Hope I'm right and that this helps.

It definitely is the Germany 1 - 5 England - I've got the DVD of the game.

I was in Tenirefe as a young pup at the time. The European Super cup was also about that time, Liverpool were back on the map and life were looking rosy.

Edit: Bolton ****ed us over. Convinced a stunner at the pool to go out with me that night, was a very short date thanks to the result.

Edit 2: Widespread riots after the Ireland match that time too.
