    Torres sets sights on glory
Fernando Torres believes he can fulfil his dream of winning the Champions League after completing his move to Chelsea from Liverpool.

The 26-year-old - a Euro 2008 and World Cup winner - sealed his switch to Stamford Bridge on a five-and-a-half-year contract for a British record fee shortly before the transfer deadline, and is now delighted to call himself a Chelsea player.

"It's the kind of team I like to play against. It's the kind of team I want to play for," he told Chelsea TV.

"It's always very tough to play against Chelsea - one of the biggest teams in Europe, always fighting for everything.

"This is the target for every footballer - to try to play for one of the top clubs in the world and I can do it now. I have to be very, very happy as I am.

"It's my dream to win the Champions League and I'm sure I can, playing for Chelsea. I think all my team-mates share that dream with me and hopefully we can."

Torres is relishing the responsibility of testing himself alongside Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka, rating the Ivory Coast forward "the best striker in the world by far".

The former Atletico Madrid forward said: "I am a big fan of all of the Chelsea strikers.

"When I was very young I remember Anelka was playing for Arsenal. It's the kind of football I like to play.

    Drogba the best
"Obviously Drogba is the best striker in the world by far. It's a big responsibility for me to play alongside them because the level they have is so high."

The transfer was finally confirmed on Monday - three days after the Anfield club turned down the player's transfer request - and he will be available to play against Liverpool on Sunday.

"I am so happy and so proud to be here, finally, after these tough days," he said.

"At the end of the day I can say I'm a Chelsea player and I'm very, very happy."

Torres admitted it had been tough leaving Liverpool but he is confident he has made the right decision.

"It has been two, three, four very, very hard days for me especially for everything I have leaving Liverpool but I can say I'm a Chelsea player," he said.

"I'm really happy and I'm sure I'm doing one of the biggest steps forward in my career, joining a club like Chelsea.

"I just want to be at the level I'm supposed to stay at. It's a great club with a great responsibility. I'm prepared for the challenge."

Torres cannot wait to link up with his former Liverpool team-mate and friend Yossi Benayoun at Stamford Bridge.

"He was worried about everything, these last two or three days, and I am very happy to play with him again," he said. "Hopefully he will be back (from injury) as soon as possible.

"For my kind of football it's very nice to have this kind of player. I have a good relationship with Yossi on and off the pitch.

"It's great for me to join the same team as him again, at a big club like Chelsea. I know all the team-mates miss him - he's a great lad."

Judging by all that he's come out with he never had the class of a Liverpool player he doesn't understand us, he truely is a Chav.

(apologies if this is posted in the wrong place)
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

This page does not reflect well on the 'greatest supporters' in England. Have you never left your job to go to a rival company? And have you never professed your love for your current job whilst secretly checking out the job ads? And have you never responded to being fibbed to again and again by your bosses thought to yourself that in the circumstances you should only think about number one?

Why do you expect footballers to be different?

he's comments are very very bitter....almost like he is aiming them at someone - be it the fans/players/management/owners or just all of us - thats what people are finding so hard to deal with - for me it doesn't matter how ****ing great he was who how much i loved him - these words haven't just wiped the slate, they have completed ****ing obliterated it....how can anyone defend him with words like that...to me it's a thinly hidden attack at us. Whether he is right or wrong in what he says - there are some things you do say and some things you don't say - it's shows a total lack of respect, he's treated this move like he's signed from Wigan Athletic to Barcelona.

What i hope more than anything is...in a few weeks when it's all died down....he's out there standing on the stamford bridge pitch, it's ****ing silent, there's no chants for any player, certainly no "bounce in a minute" and even, if it's just for a split second, i hope he thinks...wow...these aren't a 'big' club, it's all just a bit hollow"

Because football is tribal, emotional and almost religious to some people. Nobody gives a **** if Mike Jones moves from Dixons to HMV and there isn't the same emotional ties and broken promises.

You don't have to be angry but others have the right to express how they feel. Personally I think he is a cunt and I hope he fails massively but then I'm more concerned with our club and new signings than wasting my time on that.

Because football and passion are linked in a way that normal jobs aren't.

Slightly different though isn't it - i didn't go to work in my previous job on £100k a week and get greeted at the door by 40'000 people singing my name and worshipping me every single day even when i turned up and couldn't be arsed doing anything on certain days....i also, as much as i hated my previous job to the point where i used to imagine crashing my car on the way to work so i didn't have to go, didn't treat them with utter contempt when i left - I was professional, handed in my notice, said bye to my friends, and when i left i was suprised that i was a bit upset....Plus also me leaving my previous job didn't effect the lives of thousands and thousands of people, should i carry on with the comparsions lol

Because in my job I am (unfortunately) not worshipped by millions of supporters around the world. I am not in the spotlight and I do not really have to set an example if I don't want to.

He had the privilege to wear the red shirt and the way he discarded it, the fans and the club is far from graceful. He is a cunt.

How about a return to the Beatles days:

                        'Money can't buy you love'

Because no matter what happens at Chelsea he'll never be as loved there as he was here.

There is absolutely no comparison with "flicking through the job pages" and all the rest of that mundane, real-life muck, and the passion and emotion that goes with football. Jesus wept. You'd think some people watch football like robots, detached and soulless.

Of course, why do people try to compare football to a normal job, it's blatantly not.
