Until it's mathematically impossible, I refuse to rule out us getting top 4. Or winning the league. YNWA

I can understand the negative reaction to my comment and it's certainly not something I feel good about or even sure about but 4th place doesn't get you a trophy.

Some people say they want to beat Chelsea to 4th to **** Torres as much as to get 4th which is fair enough but if it's a straight choice between Torres and the Mancs I'd rather see the Mancs lose everytime.

It's not just any old title this season, it's the one that would take them ahead of us. That's the significance of the event that makes me sway to thinking the way I am at the moment.

I don't want players to come to us so they can play in the Champions League, I want them to come to us to win the league title, that's what I crave for more than anything else and will a Torres be giving 100% against Wigan at home if he's only here to play in the Champions League game on Wednesday?

Also remember it's a hypothetical question, of course I'd like to finish 4th and the Mancs not to win the title but if the choice is between one or the other then where's the glory of getting 4th place?

I think though for some of the top foreign players in the world the Champions league is the one they want. And the fact that we can entice them with CL footy makes us all the more likely to win the league.

If we dont get 4th this season, it sets us back in OUR quest to win 19. The mancs will win 19 at some point. If not this season, then maybe next. At least if we get into the CL, we'll be more likely to soon reach a position where we can win 19 too. The longer before we get back into the CL, the longer until we can stop them ourselves.

What you say is all well and good, but players WILL be more likely to come to us if we're in CL, that's the reality of it. The torres situation should have taught that to anyone who doubted it.

We'd make more money, be able to buy better players, keep our OWN good players and just be in an all round stronger position.

I love LFC more than i hate Man Utd.

where's the glory of getting 4th place?
Whereas seeing our rivals fail is 'glory' ? I'd rather we had our own glory, rather than trying to create some in the failure of our rivals. We're not everton.

Yes, you are right. Their is no glory in wanting the Mancs to fail to win the title this season. But it is significant if they win this season and part of our glory and history is that we are the most successful club in England and I want that to always be the case. I see no reason why we cannot win it next season whether we are in the CL or not.

Suarez came, even though I'm sure he didn't expect to be playing CL football next season.

It's clear that we are not looking to buy mid 20's players that are starting to look at the peak of their careers and worry about whether or not they are playing at the top level.

Players like Suarez have joined for the long haul and maybe it will help us get the right player rather than the big player if we know they are coming here to be at the club and not to play CL football.

But I repeat, this is all hypothetical. Of course I want to finish 4th.

Even if they win it, we're still the most successful until they can win 6

And you're taking Suarez as an example for everyone, when he isnt. Some players wouldnt mind that we're out of the CL but it's factually correct to say that our chances of signing more top quality players improve if we're in it.

If we don't challenge within the next few years there will be no guarantee anyone else will challenge Man Utd. Forget them and let's worry about ourselves.
we should be concentrating on LFC and not the mancs, regardless if they'll pip us for titles won.

As Henry said we were the most succesful club of the 21st century nothing can change that

mancs have got to wait 90 years to be able to claim a century as one of there own.

craig, just except not everyone feels the same as you.

Personally I don't want Utd to win the title at any cost. I hate them with every fibre of my body.

I think with Kenny, some decent signings and some luck we could or at least challenge next season for the league, if we get CL football I just can't see it be anything other than a distraction too far. I do understand the view CL = more money and better players argument. But I think the added games would take our mind off goal number one. We must win the title again.

There you have it. Another who would take 5th and Utd not winning title.

Now if we could win the europa and get 4th with utd getting the title, then it'd be a little easier to take as we've bagged a trophy.

I think it's a different way of organising priorities, but that's upto you. My priority is about us being successful ahead of anything else.

Personally i think we can do without Champions League for another year, of course it would be great to be back in amongst the best teams in Europe again but it's not the end of the world if we're not(next season only).

Next season, it's time to take the league by storm right from the first whistle, the distraction of the Champions League mightn't help matters.
