Anyway they'll get fourth at least. Surely they can't continue to play this badly for the rest of the season.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Can't believe people would think otherwise. Spurs will crumble anyway.

I can see West Ham doing some damage to United too, so that will give Chelsea a sniff of an unlikely push for the title, although I still expect United scrape it.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

4th gets dropped like what happens if a team wins the Champions league and finishes outside the top 4 that season.

(If both scenarios happen, then the 3rd qualification spot would then be lost too in order to maintain the 4 teams from same country rule)

I think it's an interesting idea and would definitely enhance the Europa Cup.

I would also like to see them stop 3rd place finishers in the first stage of the Champions League dropping into the competition. I know the idea is that you get some big teams dropping in but really, if you can only finish 3rd out of a 4 team league why should you have another chance of winning a cup.

And what happens if teams from the same country win the Champions League and UEFA Cup but finish outside the top 4?

You'd drop two teams that finished above them?

Interesting idea - it would certainly suit us this season. Man City could be rather p*ssed off.

What frustrates me so much about this season is our games against the "Big 3" of United, Arsenal and Chelsea have been pretty positive under both Roy and Kenny. A 1-1 v Arsenal despite being down to ten, losing late on to a Bebatov hat trick at OT, wins home and away v Chelsea and a home win v United yesterday.

So that suggests that we do have a squad of players to compete. Those results have all come at different times in the season with various players fit or not for all the sides so no excuses levelled in that direction.

So why can we raise ourselves for the big games but not the ones against Wigan (a draw under both Kenny and Roy) and Blackpool (a defeat under both Kenny and Roy). Fact remains we still have team that is not good enough to perform on a concistant basis. Question that needs answering is whether or not it's down to a lack of quality or a lack of mental strength. Maybe it's both.
Perhaps it suggests that against those sides we were underestimated, perhaps they had thought we've fallen further than we had. But, against sides that press we still stutter and look far from comfortable.

To be honest its really grating that we are *that* far off 4th place and still think we are in with a realistic chance.

Losing to Wolves and Blackpool at home really were the nails in the coffin as far as 4th was concerned. Annoyingly enough, two wins in those games and we'd have been talking about a chance of 2nd or even 1st!

That's the margins we are dealing with this year. We may sneak 5th if Spurs implode and we continue our good run but to expect Spurs, Chelsea and / or City to all implode while we keep winning is a long odds shot in my opinion.

Zero chance of 4th place now. Ah well, it was always a long shot.

4th place was lost the day we hired the Bodge.

                        That's what i felt anyway.

Even with high prices and the government slashing funding, I don't think the Olympics will be that bad.

You say that, but if the Mayans enter a team for London 2012 I say we are all doomed!
