    He's a tower of ****e that lad.

    Not needed, not good enough.

None of their players are good enough, hence they play for Birmingham, and fathead Bruce. Jermaine Pennant anyone?

i know I'm in a minority here but personally i think pennant will eventually turn out to be an asset for Liverpool and say what you will about wenger but evidence Say's he can certainly spot potential so maybe Rafa as that extra talent of making these players realize there potential i still say buy him.

        Who Upson?

        We don't need him.

Okay Hyypia's nearing the end, though he still has a couple of years left in him I reckon.

Plus we've got the likes of Hobbs and Antwi coming through. Paletta's only 20 as well.

Regarding Pennant; well I reckon Wenger's as good as it gets in spotting talent I agree, but of all the players he's axed during his time at Arsenal how many have gone onto better things? Not a one. Personally I reckon Pennant just doesn't have what it takes mentally to be a success at a big club. We'll see.

Decent player, just not good enough for Arsenal, or us.

            Pennant's the same I'm afraid.

I'd like to see Rafa with a bigger budget to get the sure thing, instead of having to sign maybes.

Id agree with your point about Wenger and talent-spotting, and it should be noted that he moved hell and high water at the time to sign Pennant from Notts Co. I dont think its as cut and dried as all that though. At the time, the wide midfielders for Arsenal were Pires and Ljungberg. One a world-cup winner and a class act and the other a deep-running midfielder at the top of his game popping up with vital goals

At that time Pennant was a young lad and granted he was never going to break them up. If he had had more patience i think he may well of got more of a chance at Arsenal.

It is far far too early IMO to judge Pennant on any level. Its impossible to tell at this stage if he has the mentality to play for a big club because he's never actually played for one has he, not for the first team on a regular basis as for the vast majority of the time he was in the stiffs at Arsenal. Time will tell and i would be the first to admit that the signs over the past few games, Reading excluded, dont look that promising but i think he has been made somewhat of a scapegoat for the side performing poorly and deserves a decent crack of the whip before judgements are made.

If Rafa has made a mistake then im sure Pennant will be shipped out as and when. Wenger, for all his talent-spotting credentials, has made enough howlers over the years with players to highlight the point that all managers dont get it right all the time.
