Liverpool goalkeeper David Martin is to stay on loan at Accrington Stanley.

The clubs have agreed an extension to his stay for a second month after he returned from injury in Stanley's win against Torquay last Saturday.

The 21-year-old had previously injured an ankle five minutes into his Stanley debut at the end of February.

Stanley chairman Eric Whalley has thanked fans who embraced the club's free admission offer to produce a 4,000 crowd for the Torquay game.

Oldham have moved to bolster their defensive ranks until the end of the season with the loan acquisition of Liverpool defender Miquel Roque.

The League One promotion hopefuls have endured several injuries to key backline performers this season, with Simon Charlton having joined Stefan Stam in the treatment room after picking up an injury at Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Roque's capture will be seen as somewhat of a coup on the part of Latics boss John Sheridan, given that the 18-year-old has garnered UEFA Champions League experience this season having featured against Galatasaray in early December.

The Catalan-born defender, who can also operate in midfield, arrived at Liverpool in the summer of 2005 from Spanish second tier side Lleida.

Roque figured prominently in Liverpool's 2006 FA Youth Cup-winning side and is thought to be highly regarded by the coaching staff at Anfield.

Guthrie to stay at Soton until end of season

Liverpool have agreed to extend midfielder Danny Guthrie's loan spell at Southampton until May 7, 2007.
Guthrie has impressed during his first month at St Mary's and the two clubs have now finalised a deal which will see the 19 year old remain on the south coast until the end of the Championship season.

Southampton are still fighting for a passage back into the Premiership and currently lie just four points off a place in the play-offs.
