    Europa qualification for next year

The way I understand it, if the winners of the FA cup already qualify for Europe, then the runners up get a spot in Europa. Given today's draw (Scum v City/Reading and Stoke v Bolton) the winner of Stoke v Bolton looks like they will get a Europa spot, along with Birmingham and whoever finishes 5th.

So its looking like we'll need to win the bloody thing this year, or come 5th (looking unlikely) to be in Europe next season.

That'll make it easier to attract big players then

One less competition to worry about. It's not like the Europa League is a massive attraction for players coming in. Would much prefer less distractions and a return to Saturday matches!

Yeah the Champions League is all players care about, being in the Europa League is neither here nor there for most potential signings I'd imagine.

That said it does give the impression that we're a club in decline, which players will care about.

I don't want us to sign any players who are here merely for Champions League football. It's about the league and any player that understands who and what we are will want to come regardless of qualification THIS season.

We're on the brink of greatness again, if I can see it then surely those closer to the game will be able to see it too. So, I agree that no European football next season is not going to bother me, and if it means we can't sign the next mercenary then sobeit

Do they still do that Tontobonto cup thing in the summer?
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Platini just didn't want it apparently.

I'm inclined to agree Not sure what potential signings will make of it but they should be signing for who we are as a club not because we are playing in the europa. A season out of europe will let us concentrate on the league first and foremost
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Personally I wouldn't mind if we were out of Europe for one season if it meant we could make a serious PL challenge, but would prefer to be in it in order to give games and vital experience to the younger / fringe players.

European football is always a draw for players. It enhances their own profile, which is good for their career. It also brings in millions in revenue to the club and creates greater exposure for us. All-in-all, even if it's not the CL, Europa League is infinitly better than nothing, and also gives us a shot at the Super Cup for a few million more.
