Suarez is a world class player and a very complete attacking player. You could play him right, left or in the middle behind a striker or as an out and out striker without any problem.

We got a bargain for £22m. A player that could end up being one of our best ever players. Carroll isn't even close to be match fit yet but he still had a good game. Spearing played his best ever game for us.

Carragher cut out at least two dangerous Sunderland attacks to prevent shooting chances. For me, Carra is still by far our best defender due to his reading of the game.

Sure we did but it is also difficult not to notice a dig at Carra once again.

I'd say Agger is our outstanding defender. However Carragher was much improved over last Thursday night.

Nothing wrong with Carras defending last Thursday - Just his use of the ball. Same old Carra tbh. Defending wise, Carra is king.

I think like a lot of the team he's suffered from extended periods in the side without a break. With no Europa action for the rest of the season they'll all be fine.

Good performance. Took us a while to get going and the final pass was going astray a bit. A bit of luck for the pen but we were well worth the win. Ming and Carroll should probably have scored. Ming and Lucas not really at their best. Kuyt was his usual self, worked very hard and a great penalty. Agger was my MOM, outstanding back there. We looked very solid at the back and the fact that they didn't have a shot on target until late despite being the home team was a credit to the lads. Someone must have had a word with Carra cos I swear he was trying not to hoof it today. He played some nice passes actually and made some great plays purely on his ability to read the game. He might be slowly losing it, but is there a better defender at reading the game in England. Not sure.

Suarez was great of course, and even though Carroll distribution needs work, I thought he was always a threat. Some great knock downs and almost a goal.

All in all a good days work.
