I don't think we should sell Gerrard. He is still a symbol and inspirational player for Liverpool. I wouldn't want to deny him his first league medal either.

I expect he will play less next season as his fitness and power are not what they were but he's still got goals in him.

Plus we dont need the money

I think Lucas and Spearing have formed a good central midfield partnership. Lucas has played with a number of different partners his year Gerrard, Meireles, Aurelio etc but none has worked as well as this one with Spearing. I wonder what happens when everyone is fit, this set up gives us a good balance I worry about the effect of bringing a Gerrard or Meireles into the centre of midfield and upsetting the balance.

Meireles has been ok this season, there was the typical knee jerk reaction when he went through his purple patch but apart from that he has been ok but who knows next season hopefully he pushes on, IMO will only be a squad player come next, but a very good squaddie to have. Spearing has proved many of us wrong and has been superb recently, delighted to be proved wrong and delighted for the lad, well done.

I like Merieles, Intelligent player....we are getting a good mix of intelligence with Merieles, Suarez, Maxi with real hard workers like Jay and Kuyt add in a couple of world class or near and a title push is a real possiblily. Everyone seems to be stepping upto the plate

we are developing a proper squad. Hopefully that feeling of dread we usually get when we have to look for some quality on the bench, will be a thing of the past come next season.

It's a shame Meireles is being played out of position quite regularly now, because his performances are suffering.

I know we have perhaps stumbled onto it by accident, and alot of people may think this is crazy but with the midfielders we have at the moment if everyone were fit I would stick with Lucas and Spearing as our central midfield pairing.

In the games they have played together we have been solid through the middle of the park they have protected the back four well, we've conceded very few goals, allowed the fullbacks to get forward and the creative players to do their stuff. I don't want to see Gerrard or Meireles brought back into one of the deep lying positions as I feel it will unbalance things.

By all means look to strengthen the midfield, but I think we need to keep the defensive, hard working players in these positions to be effective rather than a one holding one box to box player type model. This however leaves an interesting question as to where Gerrard plays next season, at the moment I'd envisage him playing the role Meireles currently plays with a more natural wide player on the opposite side.

yup, can see where you are coming from 4 games played, 12 scored and 1 conceeded since we've had those two as our central midfield, very impressive.

I think in the summer we should be looking to strengthen those positions obviously but whoever does come in will have a battle for a starting place which is where we should and need to be anyway.
