    Alonso: My son's a Red

    Good man Xabi!

Xabi Alonso has revealed his intention to bring his son up as a die-hard Liverpool supporter.

Most Recent News Selection headache for Segura 'Refugee camp made me tougher' Alonso: My son's a Red 6.30pm: Villa v LFC live Carra insists Euro fight still on The Spaniard may have swapped Merseyside for Madrid but he remains a big fan of his old club, insisting that his passion for all-things LFC will never fade.

"I am still a Liverpool fan and will be forever, absolutely," Alonso told The Times Online.

"The things that I have lived and the experiences I had during those five years are deep in my heart and the passion and respect I had for the club and its supporters are still the same.

"Hopefully I can transmit to my son what Liverpool Football Club means and how special it is, as he was born in the city and he will visit it in the future."

Much has changed since Alonso patrolled the Liverpool midfield with so much distinction.

The Reds have switched manager twice and are now embarking upon a new era with FSG.

Under the leadership of Kenny Dalglish they have shown a marked improvement in form and Alonso is confident they are now on the up.

He said: "I think they have regained their confidence and despite being knocked out of the Europa League (by Braga) their form in the Premier League has improved a lot.

"I think they can rebuild a competitive team, especially as it looks like there is now stability at the club again. Now they have to think about the sport side and create a plan for the following years."

If he's half way as good as his dad he'll be a decent player when he grows up.

Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

xabi is 29 now, although with his passing range could see him playing at the highest level for a good few years yet.

would love him to come back for another couple of seasons. I think it could happen to.

That would be the ultimate, Xabi coming 'home', but it will never happen...

Future LFC Manager though, of that I am convinced.

I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back as a manager one day.

Beat me to it. He's an articulate, intelligent guy, knows the game inside out, loves us. I think he'll make a top manager one day and like you I wouldn't be surprised if he became our boss one day.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

                            Totally

He has everything (leadership, poise, intelligence, knowledge, drive etc.) to be a great manager one day (if he chooses to do so) and it would be something special to see him back in that role one day.
