Apparently they are only asking for people from WA to help out? Why is that?

I don't know mate. I know they need people on the Australian donor list but not sure why only WA residents would be considered ?

Perhaps because it's 4,000km from every other major city in Australia and if they need you to come to the hospital at short notice. Well it ain't gonna happen if you're in Sydney.
