If Flannagan goes on loan, then I can see us going for Mercado from River Plate, who was previously linked with us for £2million. He's an Argentinian international too, aged 29, so it would be a good deal for us, and for Flannagan to gain vital minutes on the pitch.
Feel a bit for Flanno but hopefully he benefits form it.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."
Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.
This is an odd one, he needs games, last season after coming back from injury he didn't look close to being fit. I think the player he was before his injury had potential, but whether he can fulfil that is the big question. Also we lack options at fullback so letting him go (albeit a loan) would leave us short unless we bring someone in.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
Fact in can play both sides as well gives him lots of chances to play.
He's a good back-up, surprised we're sending him off.
I'm not, he needs to get games and at our level, he won't be able to play to as high a standard while building a suitable base fitness. A lesser club is a good deal so we get him back ready for Klopp fitness 101.
Hi injury came at the worst possible time. Problem is, due to that injury he hasn't developed over the last 2 years, whereas other younger players have, and we've gone so long without him, he simply isn't in the picture. It's the Martin Kelly effect.

Despite that there isn't really any cover for RB, Smith at the moment is cover at LB but I don't think that there is anyone else in contention for that place in the squad. Randall has had a few games there but I'm not convinced he is ahead of Flanagan, even at Flanagan's current level

I expect we'll see more of Alexander-Arnold there in teh next few matches and depending on how he does, Klopp might decide if we need to bring someone in or not.
With no European football, there is no reason why Clyne can't play every week and for emergencies we have adaptable enough players like Henderson and Milner.
It does seem an unnecessary risk though and if he gets injured we are screwed. Not to mention the lad is unhappy and we are trying to offload him.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Alexander-Arnold has no first team experience, I would imagine he would have been one of the players who could benefit from going out on loan.
The pre-injury Flanagan would be our best option to cover at both LB and RB, but given the injury who knows what level he'll be at now.

I don't think Randall is good enough to cover, and Alexander-Arnold needs to continue his development with the youth teams. I posted yesterday that we may sign Mercado from River, but he's agreed to stay with them.
Gomez could do a job in either full-back position, as could Milner. It's a possibility Klopp has the right-back area earmarked for Gomez to kick-start his development, as we're well stocked in the centre-back position with Lovren, Matip, Klavan, and Sakho.
