Well the judge described the cctv footage as showing a "prolonged assault" and that the footage showed that the girl suffered "a significant degree of violence"


Not exactly the way something minor would be described, plus Flanagan pleaded guilty after all that was said by the judge.


I can only imagine that the footage is pretty damning giving the Judge's comments and how quickly Flanagan pleaded guilty.

Has anybody explored the idea of getting the lad some help ? nobody is perfect and at different stages of your life you can make some seriously daft decisions .... that said he is still living at home with his parents? seriously ... welcome to 2018

Sure he should get some help, but he should also have to face up to the fact that he assaulted a woman and take whatever repercussions follow his actions.

We all have done daft things in our lives, but beating up a woman is not something that would fall under being called a daft act imho.

Some things cross a line, and that in my eyes is one of them.

Not going over to the violence and stuff, but why are people giving him **** for still living with his parents? So he doesnt waste his money on a huge house like some of the others. He's most likely very family oriented and stays home to help his parents, or actually understands that one day they'll be dead and gone and he's happy to spend as much time with them as he can. Something many people seem to be completely oblivious to until one dies. I'm still at home as well but mainly because for one, thankfully I'm not married and two, if I left it would take about 2 hours before they'd forget how to use anything thats technologically more advanced than a stove. Completely old school and useless.

What a shame. No one knows the facts but it's hard to think there could be an excuse. No sympathy for this incident- but I do feel for the lad losing 2 years to injury just when he was on the cusp of the first team. Almost impossible to come bsck from that.

No. They're actually inept at these things. Internet is far too complex and they stay away from it. All the greek channels and movies I set up for them, oblivious after a week if they havent switched the channel. And god forbid they try to remember how to record anything. You know how many times they come to me saying the tv isnt showing any picture, and I find they've switched the HDMI channel by accident then vehemently deny being at fault? I was on holiday interstate once and they called up on the second day with this exact repeat problem. Some parents just cant adapt to technology. Mine are them. My dad still comes to me asking how to view his text messages on his flip phone. FLIP PHONE.

There is almost certainly something that we don't know here. I am by no means defending him, but it seems he is still with the girl and she hasn't given statements (I know that there are all kinds of possible reasons for this), coupled with that the club hasn't reacted either to the arrest or guilty pleasure all just seems a bit odd to me.
