Gobsmacked - just utter gobsmacked by tha performance

didn't think we had it in us.

everyone of them worked and fought for everything!! superb to see

the slowest midfield in the world, meireles, spearing, lucas, kuyt - well **** me they were just outstanding - Kuyt for me was man of the match - he was just everywhere - but lucas ran the show and little jay spearing, who i'm a critic of, was superb - meireles out of position played very well and added a bit of class/technique to the side.

Aurelio, makes such a difference having a footballer at left back! we need to find one who can stay fit

carragher and skrtel did nothing wrong

John Flannagan - super debut - well played lad

Suarez - really unlucky not to score early on - a livewire and a threat even though the ball wasn't bouncing for him he had the city defenders running scared, if you watch the 2nd goal, right at the start of the build up - it's because of Suarez...he gets the ball just inside their half and turns and faces their back four and i said to my mate...look....they are all backing off, they're in trouble - and they were - he ran at them, and i but them in such a mess that as the ball ping pong'd round the pitch they didn't have a clue

And then....ANDY CARROLL - ****ing get in son two stunning goals for your first at the club, great performance - for a young lad he is such a raw talent but he can become a ****ing beast - still needs a bit of match fitness as he looked leggy arund 70 mins, but that will come - as i think fowler said....imagine gerrard, suarez and carroll together

well played lads!! - were the **** were u last week tho

Do you mean his debut against PSV or his first start v Lyon?

Disagree - IMO Flanagan had a far more accomplished debut than Kelly. Unfair to comapre them though, and I still feel Kelly is the better prospect.

Not sure i want to be in the Europa next season, would much prefer this squad had one main aim, and that aim, whether we achieve it or not, should hopefully give us Champions league football the season after.

Lets just think Title next season, would be my preference, and although the Europa is a chance for squad players and yougsters to gather experience, the top important players always get dragged into it, Gerrard for one would benefit from playing only domestic competition, some others too, just for next season, then see how we go.

Kenny himself said a couple of weeks back that Flanagan was probably the next one that would force through

Robinson, Suso, Sterling are all VERY highly rated but the above 3 are the ones considered to be "mentally and physically ready" to make the step up

This is why when Arn has constantly gone on about players being ready I've rubbished him, because from what I can gather they want someone who is forcing themselves to the forefront both in terms of consistantly high performances for the reserves and then being physically and mentally ready to step up
Interesting and I like the fact that you don't say this as an absolute truth.

Some people on here keep talking like their opinions are facts and that they do know exactly what happens behind the scenes.

Wisdom would have broken through this season if he hadn't got that bad injury away with England in my opinion.
Coady could very easily develop from his midfield role into a centre back so with him, Wilson, Ayala and Wisdom we are spoilt for choice potential wise.
It's easier for defenders/defensive minded players to break through. Physically they tend to develop earlier and things like decision making, confidence etc.... is easier to protect -see Flanagan last night with Kuyt in front of him and Carra beside him.

Lads like Sterling, Suso and Morgan (typically) need a season or so longer.

I've said this elsewhere but as a club we need to make early decisions for next season on which young lads to keep in and around the squad and which ones to get out on 6 month or season long loans to the right clubs.
We don't need to keep them all for next season and another year playing reserve team football will slow their progress.

I don't know if anyone saw it but The Kop Magazine did an article on "Kenny's 7 for the future" in the April issue. The article was on the back of Sterling and Coady being included in the squad for the Sparta Prague game, basically they give their views on who they consider to be the 7 best prospects, the list was:
                        -Sterling
                        -Coady
                        -Wisdom
                        -Suso
                        -Flanagan
                        -Robinson
                        -Ngoo

I found it an interesting read
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Come on..did Caroll really score that second goal ? it's bugging me now how no-one else can see it came off the defender.

I've gone from thinking i need an eye test, to believing it came off the defender again.

What formation did we play last night, I obviously missed the match? Was it a flat 4-4-2, with Kuyt and Meireles on the 'wings' or more like Kenny's 4-2-3-1 formation with Suarez off Carroll? I've noticed Meireles and Kuyt playing more like 'wingers' lately.
                            Are we winning?

100% Carroll's goal. Kolarov heads it onto the side of Carroll's head. If you can't see that you need to go to Specsavers pal.

It did come off the defender, onto Carroll and in.
