I gave my Hillsborough tickets up 22 years ago as it was the day of my 21st birthday. Luckily, the people who took the tickets were safe, but they never spoke about that day for a number of years. It wasn't until about 10pm in the evening that we finally heard that the 5 relatives who had gone to the match were safe.
I went to Anfield a few days later to pay my respects. Seeing the Anfield pitch lined with flowers almost up to the halfway line was incredible, the Kop full of scarves shirts, teddy bears, tied to the barriers. It was a really humbling experience and difficult to really understand what it was like for the people who had been at Hillsborough that day.
I still make a point of stopping for a few minutes at 3.06pm, regardless of where I am, just to spare a thought for those who lost their lives needlessly and their families.
How many of you are aware of Andrew Devine. Please don't forget him and his family.

Rafa

Just finished work and watched this again. Cried again. I'm sure it's everything that he's held back since being sacked last summer, plus of course all of the emotions that Hillsborough brings.
Rafa is one of our all time greats, simple as that, alongside Shanks, Bob, Kenny, Joe.Last edited by Fredo; 15-04-11, 11:05 PM.Are we winning?

he deserves to be seen up with those guys, he may not have won us the league but a CL win and another final alongside his generosity and genuine feelings towards LFC, the supporters and those that were effected by Hillsborough puts him in the same bracket as the 4 you mentioned IMOOriginally posted by NigelLG View PostRafa

It gets me every year, I never mind admitting that a tear comes to my eye every time I think about Hillsborough and the events of that day, I tried so hard to catch a bit of the service today but work was hectic and I just couldn't get away. If anyone has a link to it it would be very much appreciated.
My dad went to the game but was sat with the Wednesday fans as one of his work colleagues was a Wednesday supporter and had a spare ticket. To this day he barely speaks of it much and we've only really had a proper conversation about it once which ended up in him breaking down into tears, one of the only times I've ever seen my old man cry.
Justice for the 96, You will never, ever walk aloneThe times they are a changin'.

I would suggest anyone interested in indepth analysis of the disaster, the police investigation & the subsequent inquiries should read "Hillsborough - The Truth" by Phil ScrattonBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

One of the lads who was involved in the Ste Cohen campaign in America has said on Facebook that Ray Houghton & Ronnie Whelan were filming yesterday for part of a S*n sponsered TV programme for RTE apparently Dion Fanning is going to do a story on it if they don't pull out.
Disgusting if true.
