One of the lads who was involved in the Ste Cohen campaign in America has said on Facebook that Ray Houghton & Ronnie Whelan were filming yesterday for part of a S*n sponsered TV programme for RTE apparently Dion Fanning is going to do a story on it if they don't pull out.
Disgusting if true.

Both were at the club at the time of Hillsborough, so would have seen first hand what the club and families were going through. So this would be very disappointing if true

Rafa is one of the true greats of this club. Not just through what he brought to the club and achieved but more importantly for his support to the fans and families. Are true great.

Sir Kenny is long overdue also. What that man did for the families and continues to do will never be forgotten.

About a year or two back...a story went around that 'The Premiership' that does be on Saturday evenings on RTE was going to be sponsored by the s*n, and that Houghton and Whelan (who are semi-regular guests) were going to be on the first show under the new sponsor.
Remember tuning in, and it turned out that the show was sponsored by the NOTW (leaving aside the Sunday s*n argument for the time being).
The show still is under the NOTW whenever I happen to see it, but looking at a few sites, this story is going on about some live version of it which is sponsored by the s*n directly.......haven't heard anything about it so hopefully someone else else can shed some light on whats going on.

Ive emailed SOS irish branch and in liverpool over this, ive also emailed Dion Fanning to try get it highlighted in the media, he told me to send him a letter and he will make sure it gets into the independent.

Here is my dialogue with him.

I appreciate this so here is my letter.

To Whom it concerns.

It has come to my attention that two former Liverpool Players and former Republic of Ireland internationals Ronnie Whelan And Ray Houghton are due to appear on a special live edition of RTE2 Premier Soccer Saturday on sat 30th april. This show is to be sponsored by the Sun Newspaper.

Some people might not be aware of the signifigance of this but in the aftermath of the hillsborough tragedy where 96 people went to a football match and never came home the sun ran a story on their front page under the headline "The Truth" and under this they had secondary headlines, saying " some fans picked pockets of victims" "some fans urinated on brave cops" "some fans beat up PC giving the kiss of life". These were unfounded and untrue lies made up by Kelvin McKenzie to sensationalise the tragedy and sell newspapers. Infact in most subsequent reports praised Liverpool Fans on that day the way they conducted themselves in the attempt to save so many people from dying.

So you can see why that newspaper is held in such contempt by everyone associated with Liverpool Football Club especially as nobody has been brought to justice for that tragedy to this day.

Ronnie Whelan was our captain that day and Ray Houghton was a player and both players attended many of the victims funerals so to see them associated with a show sponsored by the sun is sickening to most liverpool fans and surely it would be unwise for them to go ahead with their appearance.

to be fair to chamberlin I dont excatly think she set him up they just spoke about kenny getting the job and said there was a bit in the paper and tarbuck took the rag off her read it and then made a joke about her hardly looked a set up to me and it didnt even look like he knew what paper it was
