The guy obviously loved the club, and was a pretty decent player in his day but it never quite worked out for him in English footy. His style of play was never suited to the pysical side of stuff, but he was also unlucky with injuries and arguably played out of position for most of his time here.

But that was the iconic goal of the CL final for me. the moment that really really made everyone believe, and it was easily worth £15m imo. He's a ****ing legend

I am not posting here under any rules, like any other forum I will post my views.

Smicer cost the club in total about £15M - he did well in the final but for me he failed at Anfield as a player.

Waste of money for us, and no way is he a legend, FFS even Heskey made a bigger contribution than him and he was a waste of money too. If he is a legend what does that make Kenny or Digger?

There's plenty of room for legends at Liverpool. For me Vlad will be remembered long after many other players have faded into obscurity.. for having so much hope placed on him and sometimes failing, sometimes delivering.. but when it mattered most, delivering most.

His last game for the club and he helped deliver the biggest prize of all... that's the stuff that legends are made of.

Imagine the conversations in the pub in 10 years time..

"Oh and then there was Smicer.. remember him?"
"Yeah, mostly pants.. but was brilliant in Istanbul..."
"**** yeah..."

Cue beautiful memories of him wheeling away after scoring the second goal and grabbing the shirt... memories of the hope and the result.

That's what makes a legend for me.
