They are both very good German U-21 centre backs, both about 20 years old and could develop into top international players.

It's the word could I'm not a fan of. Danny Wilson could develop into a top CB, as could Ayala.

I want someone who is a top CB if I was to replace Soto.

Howedes is Shalke's Vice Captain. He's already pretty bloody good.

I want us to sign a first team CB, someone who will come into our side and be that good we have to play him every week. For instance, if we signed Pepe at Real Madrid, we would have to figure out who to partner him with as he would easily be first choice (IMO). Now I know we wont sign Pepe, but you get what I mean.

what do you think the chances of Albidol moving from Madrid? Unlikely I know but not getting much playing time at the moment.

I don't know in all honesty mate. But he is exactly the type of player I'd be looking at signing.

The only youngster I could probably settle for us signing is Sakho, as I think the guy is a future star and already a top player now. He can also play LB, and not just play LB in the way we say Agger or Wilson can play LB, he can actually play LB very well.

He made his debut at 17 for PSG and was made Captain. Imagine making your debut as Captain FFS. The guy has a great mentality. 21 now and developing very nicely. Vice Captain at present behind Claude Makalele.

                  Defence:
Sign a top class CB, someone who is very good in the air (a must). Shift Martin Kelly to the CB berth and have him play RB when necessary. His natural, long term position is clearly in the middle. He has all the physical tools to be an outstanding CB which I feel is being overlooked. Get rid of both Kyrgiakos and Skrtel. Keep Aurelio in his final contract year to give the physios something to do. Consider sending Wilson on loan to get games.

                  Johnson NewCB Carra/Agger NewLB
                  Flanagan Kelly Carra/Agger Robinson/Aurelio

                  Midfield:
This is our biggest area of need. It's full of ****house players who can't do one or more of the following: Tackle/Pass/Run/Shoot.
I'll start with the less obvious, sell Meireles. He has absolutely no future here if we're going to play 4-4-2. **** out wide, not strong enough to play as a CM unless two more are there to do the tackling for him and he's not a good enough player to be worthy of that kind of accommodation. Selling him clears a senior midfield spot, if he stays, I guaran-damn-tee we're selling him the following summer for a knockdown price.
The other thing, if Kuyt is going to be our first choice RM next season, I'll tear my hair out. If we want to preserve the guy, it's time we move him back up front, and treat him as a striker who can sometimes play on the right. He can't get past anybody, but he's a good finisher. It's a no brainer to have him as a quality back up for Suarez and Carroll, but I want him out of our starting midfield.
Get rid of Joe Cole. He's the worst player in the squad. Let Maxi walk, never give that guy a new contract. Send Jova and Poulsen on their way. Keep Spearing as team mascot. Lucas and Shelvey are alright.
Gerrard is injured half a season every year. Sign a top CM. He needs to be a superb passer who can sit deep and initiate offense as well as put in a tackle. Basically, I want Xabi Alonso back.
We also have no wingers, sign at least two. I'd like a cheaper third as well. I want PACE out wide. That's where most of our money goes into, we need stars there. Promote Sterling and Suso to the first team, full time. They'll be ready.

                  RWinger Gerrard NewCM LWinger
                  3rdWinger Lucas Shelvey/Spearing Sterling/Suso

                  Strikers:
This is where we don't need to sign anyone. Carroll/Suarez/Kuyt/N'Gog is good enough. We might play one up front sometimes. Dalglish doesn't like N'Gog though, so maybe we'll sign some kid.

I agree in regards to Meireles  For some reason I just think he had his purple patch and he won't offer a lot more. He never really scored for Porto in a weaker league so I can't see him going on a run like that again.

When played centrally Meireles is fine. It’s his first year in the Premiership, he’s played well in his natural position, never complains when asked to play out wide, great attitude. Selling would be very stupid IMO.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

It depends on what formation we're planning to play. Raul is suited to a 433, when part of the three with a DM and another CM or AM. I'm not sure he's entirely suited to the traditional 442.

Its important to have the option though - to consider selling him after his first season in a new country smacks of [danperkins]knee-jerking[/danperkins]

He's done some good things out wide too - some lovely crosses for example. If he does play in that role we really need to have someone who is more of a genuine wide player on the other side.

                            Get rid of:

Aurelio - way too injury prone

Why Glen Johnson? He's a good fullback, still our first choice right back and can provide cover at LB, and push futher up the park if needed.

IMO we won't sell Johnson unless we get offered stupid money!
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He can't tackle and ****s out of the slightest physical contact. There's a reason Kenny doesn't play him at CM.
