I meant hit in terms of not getting what he might really be worth. The poster I replied to was suggesting that we might get £5m for him. Say for arguements sake he is worth that, I think his wages are so high that we'd be prepared to let him go for alot less just to get him off the wage bill, as the clubs likely to be in for him aren't going to have the kind of money to pay his wages and us a transfer fee.

I reckon we need a back- up striker too once Ngog goes. Someone who can get goals off the bench & fill in up top in the case of injuries for relatively cheap.

Owen could be an option.

I think that team from our current crop would possibly beat yours.

It probably would, but select a bench for your team and that's where we are lacking.

Besides Carra is getting on a bit (has been excellent under Kenny though)
And you just can't count on Agger (same goes a wee bit for Kelly IMO).
Maxi has 1 great game and suddenly hes the dogs bollox.

I think we would have as strong a squad AND starting 11 as any in the league if we bought the players I have highlighted...

I've always been a fan of Maxi and think he's vastly underrated. Expected him to have a great season this year and predicted he'd be better than Cole. One out of two aint bad.

But nah, of course them players would improve our squad dramatically. I explained that in my original post that was deleted. Our strongest 11 is usually pretty strong which is why we can beat anyone on our day and without CL football it's unlikely that we can attract many players that would make a major difference to it. The players mentioned would definitely make us stronger though. Kuyt will definitely be starting in our strongest team BTW. Even if Kenny bought Messi and Ronaldo then he'd still find a place for Dirk.

I personally would be very surprised if he is regular next year. Once we buy a "winger" he'll be moved to the bench.

No chance. People say the same every year but it aint gonna happen. With a proper left winger Dirk will be awesome next year.

On that note, I personally also expect Carra, Raul, in addition to Dirky. to be the squad players next season.

We tried to sign Young in January and I think we'll be going back for him. Few others could be Dzsudzsak, Marin, Lennon (linked with him recently) or AMs that can give still give us width like Hazard, Goetze or Lucas Moura.

Marveaux imo could be a decent player but with injury problems as of late, who knows.

Do they not usually play on the left though. Replacing Kuyt with Lennon would be madness IMO. Marin looks a good player which I wouldn't mind as an alternative to Kuyt, but not a replacement at the minute. I'll not even pretend to know much about the last two.

Young can play either left or right,Hazard plays on the right side almost always and yes Dzsudzsak is employed on left.

Lennon is the old fashioned winger and could give us tons of pace that we are in short supply.

Far from my top pick but if we would get him I wouldn't be too disappointed. Cannot see it though.
