I'd be shocked if this isn't already pretty much sorted out, there really is no need to announce it before the end of the season though as what boost would it give us at the moment.

Statement of intent at the end of the season makes the most sense for me along the lines of "we've decided Kenny is the best option for the managers job, he'll be backed to bring in top talent to help win things and bring LFC back to where it belongs etc......."

Absolutely it would but they know only way for them to compete and get back into top 4 would be to improve the squad, which shouldnt' be that difficult as their squad is pretty good and they are only few players short imo.

I fully expect them to do just that in the summer and they should not be underestimated.

Not sure i agree pal, whilst i wouldn't write Spurs off with some of the top players they have, i honestly think they'll find it very difficult to get back into the top 4.

Their keeper is a disaster and the only reliable defender they have is Dawson. They're obviously needing a striker or two.

I quite like Corluka though and think Essio-Ekoto is rather under rated. If anything it's up top they've got problems. Most games seem to be passing Crouch by, Defoe seems to have lost the knack of getting into the right place at the right time and they don't seem to trust Pav that much. Take VDV and Modric out this year and I reckon they'd have really struggled.

Get a top striker and Spurs'll be there or there snouts. If they don't I think next year they'll be a bit of a non entity.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

but its what to do with the VDV quandry......doesnt play well enough week in, week out or for long enough during a game to get a striker just to work with him?

I thought they looked a let better squad wise and was quite envious at the beginning of the season. Not now, all there strikers are ****e......They are overstocked with not bad midfielders and only Modric is world class, there keeper is a joke and the defence is laughable

Yes it will be difficult for them to get into top 4 but I do expect them to challenge along with other 5 teams.

Gomes does make silly errors from time to time but he's been fairly consistant for them all season long. He's only 30 so even though they could improve there I don't think they will.

Full backs are decent (Hutton and Walker on Right and Assou-Ekotto and Bale if need be on the left. Corluka will be sold and they will probably get one more LB)

CB position is solid with Dawson, Kaboul, Gallas and Bassong and I think they will let King and Woodgate go.

Good mix of defensive midfielders in Sandro, Palacios and Huddlestone and CMs in Modric, Pienaar, Jenas and VDV (attacking MD) but I do think they may need to buy one more as they will let go Kranjcar, Bentley and maybe O'Hara.

Wider players are good in Bale and Lennon.

Area that imo needs improvements is strikers as Pavlyuchenko, Crouch and Defoe have been playing poorly. Pavlyuchenko and Keane will be sold and I personally think they will buy 2 new strikers in the summer.

All in all, imo they need 1 or 2 max new starters and if they maintain deep and well balanced squad they will be competing for top 4.

Mostar not sure if you know many Spurs fans but the ones I know would rip that assesment to shreds !!!

                Keeper: Joke
Full backs are liabilitys ( hutton to slow, Ekotto semi decent.....BAle never a full back)
centre backs.....have 2 decent they have issues
def m: Palacios is awful, sandro looks like he could be very good though but young, Huddlestone has great range of passing but a turning circle of an artic truck
                Cm's Modric awesome....then more problems
Wider players: Bale and Lennon both decent although lennon is injury prone
Upfront: All 4 are ****e......best for VDV is crouch but then not sure most want him played all season!

I know quite a few spurs fans and that seems an assesment from the ones i know!!

I dont think they're that badly off, but i do think top 4 next season could be difficult and furthermore, i dont expect Bale to have as big an impact next season.

I think that they have some good players but they don't have a system that works for them. They can swap players around but still want to play the same way, for example, they play the same game whether they have Crouch or Defoe up front.

They have a fairly consistent level of players in their squad, so if someone is out they can usually replace them with similar quality. I'm not convinced their best players are either good enough or consistent enough to challenge a strong top 4.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the summer, there were hints that if they didn't make the Champions League they might be in trouble. If they have to sell a few people they might have problems, if they can sign players they will be up there in the battle for 4th, (which will be a tough one next year).

Don't see Harry Redknapp as the man to take them forward anymore than they've gone to be honest. Always had some question marks over his managerial ability.

when the money runs dry 'Arry will be on his bike, already setting up for it coming out saying he needs to buy this summer.

He's spent and spent and spent and I still think that the overall quality in the squad is nowhere near where it should be for the money invested in it.

I don't think they are that bad nor I think the assessment of some of their fans is realistic. Don't forget they do have a game in hand and mathematically if they would go on the winning streak (they won't but..) they could still catch up with Cityh for the 4th and final CL spot.

Decent, solid and pretty deep squad but they do need to improve in some areas and require new investment in some quality players.

I wouldn't definitely rule them out next year as I do think they will be a very difficult team to beat and they will compete with us for CL spot.
