You need to get used to the fact he's not a Suarez type.
All I am expecting is for him to at least try and get near their defenders off the ball to be in position to receive. Lucas had already played 85 or so minutes and still had the energy to move up the pitch and he was beyond Carroll as he slowly walked up to their defenders.

Pleased to see Maxi notch again. 7 goals this season from a player derided by so many as '****' and someone who doesn't start every week. Valuable squad player and one we must keep.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

"Carroll should have been busting a gut to get up the top of the pitch. It doesn't matter what the score is, a striker always wants to score especially if he is coming off the bench because he has more energy and wants to prove he deserves to start.

Without wanting to sound knee jerk it could be a turning point for the worse, especially with a long winter coming..."

And its me thats the "WUM"? Yeah, good one.

Sorry to bring the tone of the thread up, but I love it when Dirk steps up to take the penalty. I think he is the best penalty taker at the club. Usually he smashes it in, but today was more about placement.
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

Johnson had a good game, distribution was good he caused problems for them going forward and his defensive positioning was excellent

johnson was also ****. i can also see jonjo shelvey playing well at right back depending on when we decide to release the woeful johnson. he should never get another game.

not to be funny or anything, gents, but i thought newcastle were triffic today. fairplay to both arsenal and united. they are both glorious teams and i hope one of them wins the league.

or chelsea. they are also brilliant. gotta love a side that can really kick **** out of another side and still score a few goals.

I like that Gutiérrez for Newcastle, he's not a world beater but he's a ball carrier and an outlet. Non stop as well.
Yes he had a massive impact on the game. Not.
                        Oh I don't know.

Carroll showed what he is, a player coming back from a long injury, not quite match fit. I still think he is a 15m pound player who was in the right place at the right time. He should do a decent job for us if used properly, charging around midfield is not the place.

He's always an outlet and good on the ball but the fans up here are fairly ambivalent towards him. Absolutely zero end product.

But I thought given the heat today and the inexperience of the team we put on a fairly professional performance. I love watching us attack teams now. Decisive, quick and penetrating more often than not and the movement of the players is superb. All in all a good days work!
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

I thought he was lively throughout.
