Suarez will improve, he is playing at a higher level and looks to have the tools to be able to adapt. Saying that though, there is still another piece of the attack to be put in place (I think that player will be Hazard), no longer will we be relying on one player to get the goals and neither will buying a winger to supply Carroll be the only facet of our attack.

Win 3-0 and hardly break sweat, and without our talisman and yet you still complain.

3-0 at home in the sun ...great stuff, well done lads

                Some people are never happy

Liverpool FC 3 Newcastle United 0 - Match Report

Liverpool continue to reign supreme under Kenny Dalglish and have finally unearthed a suitable heir to the no.7 throne in Luis Suarez.

The burden which befell the likes of Nigel Clough, Harry Kewell and Robbie Keane, to name just three players who crumbled under the weight of expectancy which arrives with arguably Anfield's most illustrious shirt number, appears to unnerve the Uruguayan.

His technique, complimented by blistering pace, continues to mesmerise the Kop whilst Newcastle's defence were left almost spellbound in their failed attempts to silence him throughout this game.

And it was only a matter of time before his lethal combination saw him find the net once more, having last scored against the Magpies' local rivals Sunderland in mid-March.

Any reservations as to whether Suarez can continue to acclimatise to life in the Barclays Premier League should have now all but dissolved.

"He is always getting in there and Luis is always a threat," said Dalglish.

"He's a good person. He's bubbly and just loves playing football.

"For the style he is, both as a player and a person, I don't think he'd find it difficult to fit in anywhere. That's great credit to him.

"Obviously he will miss a lot of pre-season because he'll be away with Uruguay at the Copa America, but he'll be the same next season. Exactly the same.

"He comes into training every day with a smile on his face."

Meetings between these two teams were once famed for their high octane action often matched by equally dramatic score lines. But events in the first half, or rather lack of them, threatened to condemn this encounter to the dark corner of the history archives.

Maxi Rodriguez's 10th-minute strike was the only saving grace in an otherwise uninspiring initial 45 minutes as Mike Williamson could only head John Flanagan's cross into the Argentine's path for him to record his fourth goal in two consecutive games, courtesy of a Danny Simpson deflection.

Newcastle should have found themselves on level terms on several occasions but for their inability to make their numbered attacks pay dividends, most notably when Joey Barton's close-range effort flew wide of Pepe Reina's left-hand post from a Kevin Nolan cross, cost them dear.

The Huyton native endured a meek return to his home town by his often controversial standards, thanks largely to the efforts of Flanagan and the returning Glen Johnson, making his first outing since limping off during the defeat to West Brom at the beginning of last month.

But Liverpool emerged resurgent after the interval, again displaying the attractive brand of football which Ruud Gullit – Dalglish's predecessor at St James Park – could only dream of.

Even on the seldom occasions when all did not go according to plan, good fortune rectified their mistakes whilst Suarez continued to weave his magic through Newcastle's now fearful back line.

His partnership with Dirk Kuyt continued to flourish beyond expectations as he stole the ball deep in the Newcastle area from a shepherding Williamson who could only curtail his antics by dragging the striker down, prompting Peter Walton to point to the spot.

Kuyt has benefited greatly from the presence of a fellow Dutch speaker alongside and continued to enjoy something of a purple patch by converting the resulting penalty with ease to take his tally to six goals in seven games whilst maintaining a flawless record from 12 yards.

And the striker turned winger repaid his debt of gratitude by providing Suarez with an able assist in the form of a neat flick through several Newcastle defenders for him to fire home from close-range.

Discussions over what was expected to be an emotional reunion for Andy Carroll with his boyhood club failed to materialise after the 3,000-strong Toon Army had reserved the majority of their chants and total vitriol for their former idol who was barracked throughout his warm-up.

His emergence five minutes after Suarez had gift-wrapped maximum points proved to be little more than a footnote with Liverpool enjoying an almost testimonial-like final third, leapfrogging fifth-placed Tottenham in the process.

What vestiges of doubt linger over Dalglish's ability to manage and motivate players at the highest level of the game, in spite of his decade-long hiatus from the dugout, should now disappear with Liverpool accumulating 29 points from a possible 39 in their previous 13 games.

The decision by Anfield's erstwhile hierarchy to overlook the Scot last summer in favour of Roy Hodgson proved a regressive move and is one which supporters continue to lament.

But clinching Europa League qualification would not only be testament to Dalglish's ability to motivate the current crop of players but also to the foresight displayed by the club's owners, Fenway Sports Group, since January thus salvaging a season once mired in mid-table malaise.

Okay, Maybe complaining is a bit strong, but pointing out Suarez needs to improve his game doesn't seem right to me today, he's a touch of brilliance for me, doesn't all ways come off but what great control and vision, must be a joy for Dirk to play alongside, and when Gerrard returns...wow
