The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Probably the best signing in recent times.A great defender and a true proffesional.good luck to him......It would be nice if he could come back to the club as a coach as his experience would be great for the younger guys coming through.Although saying that, being a great player doesnt always mean you can coach as someone has already mentioned Rush as an example.

Glad Carragher remembered and recalled that tackle on Rivaldo in the 2001 UEFA semi final. It was immense, I remember the whole crowd cheering like we'd scored. From what I remember, it was almost a block tackle that sent Rivaldo several feet into the air. Immense.

What a player. At his peak, the best central defender I have seen play for Liverpool, and he was hugely underrated by the press and other fans for years. While they were all crowing about LeBoeuf, Desailly, Stam or even Maldini - we knew we had something special in Sami.

Was gonna post the same mate. Place hasn't been the same without his towering presence and cheeky smile at refs.

I really hope he comes back to us in some role, fantastic guy, great player and by some distance my favorite Liverpool player in the last decade for us.

              What a fantastic servant:

That's what the papers in Cologne say as well. I understand that deal was agreed when we approached him at the end of last season but Leverkusen decided to hold on to him.

A first-class Anfield heroe he is and Leverkusen have been very clever to keep hold of him. We'll have him afterwards.

That is what it is all about. He respected the club, supporters and the manager. He didn't moan when Gerrard was made Captain. He always gave 100%. Excellent leadership qualities and excellent game intelligence.

You could say that he was the Didi of the defence. Slow but excellent in everything he did.

The word legend isn't enough in this case. The sending off he got from the Kop and the whole Anfield when he left showed how much we fans respected him.
