Heard this morning that one of the first teams he will join during the next year is being managed by a King. No idea who that could be

I found the specific mentioning of the two leagues in England and Spain very interesting, too. Looks like Sami is going to visit some old pals from his Liverpool days next year.

Absolute legend. Bargain at £2.6m. Dominated in the air, class on the floor and popped up with important goals.

The highest praise I can give him is that he is up there with the likes of Hansen, Lawrenson, Thompson, Yeats as the best centre-halves to play for us.

Houllier's best signing eh. Incredible find and amazing no-one picked him up before we did. Willem II FFS.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

A proper footballer in the body of a dominant centrehalf. He had everything apart from pace and because he was such a good player he was rarely caught out.

I think the only player he struggled against was Drogba.

Unbelievable bit of business, 10 full seasons out of him too and he was seldom injured.

You gotta hand it to Houllier, he was a shrewd operator in the transfer market at times - Bought Henchoz for £3.5m, Hamann for £8.

Not to mention snapping up Markus Babbel and Gary Mac on freebies when no other Club would go near them.

IIRC correctly quite a few clubs were in for Babbel. He would have been a fantastic signing too if it weren't for his illness.

But on the whole I agree, I think that both Houllier and Rafa were (generally ) good at buying defensive players but less so at buying attacking players.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think United were after Babbel a few yrs before we signed him, can't recall any competition for him in and around the time we got him but i might be wrong on that one.

It's shame cos everyone remembers the signings of Cheyrou, Diao and Diouf in the summer of 02 but Houllier also brought in some great players that had a massive impact.

Sami has no blemish on his career or character whatsoever. He will always be one of my favourite players.

(Will watch that vid later- might get a quivery bottom lip in work!)
                      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

                            Brilliant stuff man

                            Particularly like the closing lines:

This summer, one of Liverpool’s prime transfer targets will be to find a dominating centre-half, good on the ball, exquisite in the tackle and a threat in the opposition box.

In short, a new Sami Hyypia.
