Or perhaps they know that their best chance of getting back in the CL is by him staying and that's a huge factor behind them wanting him to stay on. I didn't judge the players did I? I can totally understand what Gerrard said. It's probably his last shot at getting to play in the Champions League again. So why wouldn't he say that?

But in all honesty, for me, the way he's treated the club, I want him sold. Whether that means missing out on the CL or not, I'm not fussed. I think we'll get there eventually by building a team. Maybe I'm wrong on that. But I'm not into the 'Win at any cost and with anyone' mentality.
