Well yeah, that and Arsenal's bid of £40m + £1 was hardly something to negotiate in good faith about given that it showed they had inside knowledge of a confidential contract clause.

I actually wonder how different this all would have been if Arsenal had just bid something like £45m from the getgo and been prepared to actually negotiate properly. All they've actually done is trolled us with an insulting bid then sat there watching the chaos as Suarez has gone postal. At least Chelsea for all their flaws do this **** properly, when Torres made it clear he wanted to go they hiked their bid to an acceptable level without much messing around.

I think the £1 over £40m clearly irked Henry. Arsenal were trying to get too cute there. I think the strong reaction from Henry has been due to Arsenal's £1 pound extra bid and Suarez interview.

If they had offered something like £42-43m I think this transfer rumours would have been rumbling on and on.
