Suarez: Our squad shouldn't be able to win title

Luis Suarez says Liverpool's squad should not be good enough to win the title and the players have been surprised by their form.

The striker has scored 30 goals and Brendan Rodgers' side are closing in on a first league title since 1990 after 11 successive victories.

But in a veiled attack on big-spending rivals Manchester City and Chelsea, Suarez said: "It [winning the Premier League] would be something that no one would believe.

"We have good players but if you look at the complete roster, we don't have [players] to be up there. The truth is that we are surprised ourselves at how well we're playing," he reportedly told Perform.

Liverpool are five points clear at the top of the Premier League with three games remaining. They face second-placed Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday and, with Daniel Sturridge apparently recovered from a hamstring injury and Jose Mourinho threatening to field a weakened team, their chances of pulling even further away from one of their title rivals look good.

Suarez claims it would be an "incredible" achievement to claim the crown given the transfer spending of other clubs. Liverpool have spent £48 million since last summer strengthening their squad but that outlay is dwarfed by the £106m paid out by Chelsea and Manchester City's £87m.

"We have good players who are demonstrating why they are in Liverpool and it would be something amazing even to England because of the investment made by Chelsea, [Manchester] City and Arsenal," he said.

"Even Tottenham have spent over £100m and we, with so little investment, are in that position. It would be incredible."
