Manchester United are ready to outbid Real Madrid with a £65million move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, according to Spanish reports.

Barcelona-based newspaper Sport claims United have handed incoming boss Louis van Gaal £200m to re-vamp and bolster the squad ahead of next season, and the Dutchman is keen on teaming Suarez up with Robin van Persie at Old Trafford.

With European Champions Real Madrid also interested in taking the Uruguayan to Spain this summer, reports claim that Van Gaal is ready to gazump Los Blancos by £15m to land last season’s Premier League top scorer.

Suarez signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with Liverpool in December before his 31 goals in 33 appearances took the club to the brink of winning their first Premier League title in 24 years.

And while the Reds would never entertain the idea of selling their star striker to United, Sport speculates that Liverpool could be powerless to stop a move should rumours of a £65m release clause prove to be true.
