I vote for C, give him some pshycological help and support him off the pitch. His family must be going through some tough times and if this is some unintentional, spontanuos reaction he should be helped not castigated. I genuinely think he needs help and support.

He's going to have plenty of time to get help. Can't see how FIFA will not get the FA involved and they won't hesitate to ban Suarez as part of some lengthy international suspension. if The Guardian's 24 game estimate came into play then he's pretty much done for 2014.

can't see them trying to extend it to domestic football. They'd be punishing an innocent party, us and it would also make clubs even more hesitant releasing their players for international duty if they could find them returning on the end of a domestic ban even though they weren't even representing the club at the time.

there's no way teams will want their players going on international duty if there's a chance he could pick up a ban that affects them too.

Tens of thousands of professional sports people around the world have grown up in slums, surrounded by violence and abject poverty. Yet the only other example of biting I can think of in any sport was Tyson. Suarez has done it three times now. His background is irrelevant imo. He's on his own in this regard.

I agree Shaggy, I mean with Luis it is extra ridiculous because he's done it repeatedly, but no way is that as bad as say, Ben Thatcher's assault, or anything even close to Cantona attacking a fan.

I also completely don't see how, moral indignation from the UK press aside, any FIFA action can at all involve the FA, it completely isn't their jurisdiction and vice versa - he was free to play internationals after the Ivanovic bite wasn't he?

It’s completely unprecedented, but I have a feeling that FIFA will impose a lengthy ban and despite having no jurisdiction over the FA, recommend that they do the same, which the FA would obviously lap up.

Not sure if it’s even legal, but they seemed to make the rules up as they went along for the Evra case.

i really don't think Suarez is 'mentally ill.' Even if he had a deprived childhood its no excuse, there are players at this world cup who will have come from the worst squalor on the planet. He is a man more privileged than most now, who has already found out that biting is unacceptable twice before. He has nobody to blame but himself and he is capable of controlling himself, he made it through last season without any stupid incidents. The outrage is over the sheer stupidity of him doing it three times.

The argument about 'i'd rather be bitten than kicked' is childish.

I have never seen a worse pundit than Danny Mills. He is utterly pathetic in his analysis of this situation and most footballing topics imo.
