no, i agree. calling him black was uncalled for, but calling him a cunt was spot on. hence 8 days for racist remark, minus 4 days for an astute remark.

The difference between the Suarez and Defoe incidents is that the referee saw the Defoe one so the referee could not take further action, I am fairly sure that the referee didn't see the Suarez incident, meaning it is up to the FA to decide his punishment.

I think that this is a stupid rule, I can understand why it exists but I don't agree with it, look at all the bad challenges in recent weeks that should have got red cards but didn't, and had no further action taken (McManaman and Aguero to name two). This rule really means that it is a case of it's not about what you do but what you get caught doing. Which is IMO a crazy situation, similar fouls should receive similar punishments, regardless of anything else (whether the referee saw it, who the players are, or which club they play for).

In response to the Souness remarks, the only problem I had with what he said was when he said "the chelsea players will all be looking at the bite mark".

Right, so hang on a minute. How do you know there is a mark? Did he actually bite him properly? We only have evidence to see his intent, not the actual damage done. IF ANY. Yet he already wrote a nice story in his head and to the public that Suarez has in fact caused harm without any proof.
