I don't see it like that at all. I just think he has a very severe case of white line fever. I get that too. Normally I'm laid back, very placid and not remotely aggressive. Put me in a competitive football match and I want to fight everybody. Suarez has got it bad. A hugely extreme case of it. Everyone who knows him talks of what a sweet, loyal and humble guy he is. No way IMO can people make assumptions on his character based on how he behaves on a football pitch.

I cannot get over the reaction to this. Yes it was to be expected, but for **** sake. He said sorry, Ivanovic has accepted it. The FA will ban him, no doubt later that I expect so he misses the start of next season.

What message does selling him now send out to players we are trying to sign?

Players potentially joining the club don't "dream of playing with Jonjo Shelvey". They want to play with Suarez.

We need him to help attract a higher calibre of player this summer.

FWIW I believe he is genuine when he says he would like to stay for his contract. Regardless of whether that's true or not though, I can't see his value changing much between this or next year.

If we sold him now I think it would undo any kind of momentum and positivity around the club, whether that's players or fans or other staff.

I dread to think where we'd be in a year or two if we sold him. The money gained in selling him would be useful but i'd worry about us slipping further and further behind.

While I can see the 'theory' behinf it. If we do that, do we not just become Everton? Selling our biggest asset for the good of the team?

I would much prefer to hold on to the 1 genuine world class player we have at the moment and make a geniune push for top 4 with some Investment in the summer.

It would be a miracle if we sold Suarez for 40m, invested 100m into the team and got Champs League next season., Pure Fantasy Football to expect a) all players to be good b) all players to settle.
